With 1,200 miles now on my "Justa", I have noticed the exhaust note seems a bit more aggressive than delivery day. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I love the throaty little growl I get every time I dip into the throttle. It reminds me of a puppy growling at you while you're playing tug-o-war with his favorite chew toy. I just don't remember the car being as "vocal" earlier on. Have those of you with more miles noticed this too? Should I look forward to the sound getting even better?

 

One can only hope! I cant wait for the aftermarket to forget about the B48 and concentrate on this mighty B38....

 

When I first got mine I really liked the throaty exhaust note at startup. It seems to get getting better as the engine loosens up.

 

Runs to 6k in sport mode with the windows down are especially satisfying...

 

Someone should post a sound clip! Would love to hear the sound

 

I'm still technically in the "break-in" period, so I'm really trying to play nice for the time being. I can't wait, though!

I've found this video captures the sound best. For a new car, at least. 3 cylinder exhaust note from 21:50-23:10.

This video is the best overview of the MINI and MINI S that I've seen.

 

Both engines are in the video, the preview clip just happens to be showing the S. It does long runs of engine sound in cabin, outside cabin, and at the exhaust for the Cooper and Cooper S.

 

Now THAT is what I call an in-depth review! Well done for both models.

I have a different car, but yesterday I noticed a burble for the first time in a low gear foot off the gas. I liked it and was hoping for some of that. I was in the Sport mode of course (always).

 

I love the really low gurgle / raspiness of the 3 cyl. It had some getting used to from my previous car, but I really like it.
