Info on Replacing Mirror Caps

I've been thinking about putting a set of the Black Jack Mirror caps on my White Silver F56S. I searched around NAM to see if I could find a DIY about doing the swap but didn't find anything. My assumption is they're snap on/off items but it would be nice not to be a guinea pig if I can get a heads-up. Has anyone with Gen1 or Gen2 background ever done this and what's entailed to do it?

Thanks in Advance

It's not cost effective ($3300) and very emotionally rattling! I will say that its just a bunch of plastic clips all the way around. For more info. checkout:

There are some tutorials on UTube.
You'll need a plastic body tool.
Narrow thin plastic spatula will do.
There are sets available for about $10

Can't say that was how I thought I'd remove mine. Sorry to hear about yours. Think I'll try one of the trim removal tools first.

This is my favorite with a plastic tool:

Put a towel/blanket under your working area in case you don't catch the cover when it POPS!!

When I took an F56 for a test drive (within hours of the first MCS arriving at my dealership) my MA played with them when we got back. He was curious what was underneath on the new models.

He just grabbed and pulled until it popped off. Then he just popped it back on.

Seemed pretty easy.

Pop off Mirror Caps

I replaced my Mirror Caps on my original 2007 MINI and just ordered some Carbon Fiber caps for my 2013 Roadster. Unlike the video above, neither of my mirrors had the black surround piece. I found "instructions" on OutMotoring.com and it worked fine the first time. You need to "pop off the mirror".... uhm, a little nerve racking, but yes, it does pop off! I tilted the mirror all the way in and used a little pressure, it popped off. Then you have access to the tabs on the mirror cover; squeeze and remove; install new covers; pop mirror back on. Easy and quick, no tools required (well, other than fingers). From the video I guess it makes a difference if you have the plastic surround piece. Good luck, Enjoy!
