I've attached a photo of this extra thumbwheel switch I have next to the main light switch on my F56S. I looked in the manual (pg 86) and all it shows is the instrument lighting dimmer (#7) - the one on the far right. Does anybody have any info on the one next to it? It has 3 settings (0,1 & 2) but I've yet to figure out what it does.
I'm going to guess the on/off delay for the automatic headlamps.

I have auto headlamps and do not have that rotary....European cars have adjustable fog lamps.....turn on your fog lamps manually, and then adjust it to see if they move up and down. That's my guess

I'll try that with the fog lamps. Maybe that will make them come on finally, as they have not worked to date! I thought when the dealer wired up the driving lights they disconnected something with the fogs. But then when I discussed this with the service manager at MoB he should have alluded to this additional control. But I'm beginning to believe that the folks here are more the authority on all things Mini - and the dealer blokes just plod along trying to fake it as best they can.

You hit the nail on the head. The only person from a dealer I have had luck with is Brandon from Sewell, otherwise this forum is your best bet about solid information.

That's weird I don't have that rotary either, also weird that your top button on the left is not marked. THAT is my fog light button, that I went and checked the other day when we was trying to get your to turn on.

I think this supports my opinion that MoB screwed things up when they did the driving lights. Probably reversed the locations of front & rear fogs switches. But this thumb-wheel is truly a mystery as I can't find a thing in the manual. So until I can test it this PM with my sweetheart at the controls - I'm stumped!
Yea I'm confused also but I think you're correct about MOB unless the dial lets you select between the fogs and the driving lights...like 1 is fogs 2 is driving and the 0 is off.
Its your headlight adjustment. What country do you live in? This won't be on all car as not all countries require this. Basically it lowers your headlight cutoff level. The idea is when you have a lot of heavy things in the back or you are towing something the nose of the car will be at a higher angle, so you move the headlights down so you don't blind other drivers. Mystery solved.

Thanks for a definitive answer. That even fits with the logo on the thumb-wheel/switch, it looks like an up/down adjustment. What surprises me now is why I have it and my buddy Vypur with nearly the same spec'd car didn't get it! And why the owners manual doesn't list it. Curiouser and Curiouser!

Do you two live in the same country? Like I said this is only there because some countries require it. The US doesn't so it shouldn't be on any US spec models. There's also the chance that something was messed up and they put the wrong part on the car, as in the country this car went to didn't require it but it ended up on the car regardless. But I assure you that's what it is I have seen it many times

Well, I don't know why I have it or how I got it, but the thumb-wheel switch does appear to work as TK has indicated. I have a bit of a ramp to the pad on the side of my workshop so last night I tried moving up the ramp in small increments and playing with the thumb-wheel. It's not the easiest to see but I put a tape line on the wall and sure enough the light line would move down as I rotated the switch. Thankfully those LED lights have such a sharp vertical cut-off or I don't think I'd have believed the switch was doing anything.
From time to time, production mistakes happen, and features intended for another market get included in a U.S.-spec car. Pretty neat to have something that nobody else (or not too many) in this country have. Makes your new MINI even more you-nique!

I'm kind of wondering, if these cars are pretty much CAN bus controlled, what else might actually be available option-wise if just the control switch were added? Someone in another thread said that the rear fog lights on their car even had bulbs in the sockets (they didn't order rear fogs). If they simply buy/install the switch I'm betting the harness is there under the dash and the rear fog lights would probably work. I'm sure going to look for bulbs in my rear fogs and move out from there.
I have those 2 switches - the top one has an icon opposite to the bottom. They are Front and Rear fog lamps. When I push either on I get an icon on the display.
