F55/F56 deals on F56?
It all depends on how many they have and how close in proximity you have dealerships. You can always get some kind of discounts, especially when you order more packages/accessories, but for the first few ones they won't give you much of a discount. When I preordered mine, I was just hoping to get $250 off but they made a mistake in my order and I actually ended up the Visual Boost 6.5 screen instead of the stock one (which in was glad). They took the $500 off for it and I didn't want to argue as I was going in with the intent to pay close to MSRP. I like my MA too.
But as we get closer to summer the 2015 will soon be announced and the supply are finally coming in. The more they have on a lot, the more you have bargaining chips.

Kids these days. Lol. Never pay MSRP or anywhere close to it, including MINI. Go get a paid subscription to Consumer Reports or another site that shows the breakdown of the costs of all packages and the invoice price. When I see people on here that say MINI is different and you have to pay MSRP, I shake my head.

I've had quite a number of cars in my years, this isn't my first rodeo. I'm well aware with paying under invoice, MINI IS different (you will not get the deals that you can from a typical manufacturer).
Speaking of which, do you own a MINI and/or have you tried to purchase an f56 or have one on order? My guess is no to each of my questions. Thanks.

It is possible to get a deal on a new MINI but the same rules apply as with any other make's dealers. Mainly, you've got to take delivery from dealer stock, or find one at a nearby dealer for stock trade. Shop near the end of the model year, or barring that near the end of the month when they are pushing to hit quotas. In most states they pay inventory tax on every car on the lot. And, you've got to be willing to walk out on the deal and compromise in features/color/interior. If you walk in expecting a deal on a custom order and you're dead set on buying, you'll likely not find them willing to deal.

Agree 100%. They will only deal with cars already in their stock on their lot. Pre-order and you are at MSRP.
I contrast that with an ordered car. There is nearly an unlimited supply of ordered cars. The manufacturer owns the supply, not a dealer. The dealer does not have leverage with a customer because that customer can go to any dealer and order that exact car. Hence, the dealer SHOULD want to give the customer a deal on an ordered car because the supply is not in the dealer's favor.
Now the only unique thing with mini is that the cars are highly customizable so many people will want to order cars. That said, I thought I read a stat that over 80% of mini's sold are from the dealers lots.
As I'm also thinking about getting a WRX (also a very desired new 2015 model), I've confirmed with a dealer that dealers only get a certain quantity of allocated lot cars. Thats why they won't deal on a LOT car. Now ordered cars, they will give more aggressive pricing because a customer order doesn't impact the dealer's allocation for the year and that customer can order the same car from any dealer.
And maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but this makes absolutely zero sense. It completely ignores the rules of supply and demand. On a hot new car like the mini, the SUPPLY of what you can actually get is based on whats on the dealers lots - with strong demand for the new f56, many people don't want to wait 3 months to order a car, so they will pay a premium to have it now. The dealer owns the supply in this case.
An ordered car means an instant sale when the car hits the lot, so the dealer turns his inventory really fast. The buyer benefits by getting what he wants and doesn't have to buy a car on the lot filled with fru-fru options.

Thanks for all your replies everyone. I hope to have a bit more bargaining power in South Florida as they will be used to customers needing some kind of deal - small or large. Anyone in the SO FLA area?
I need to get my wife a mini before I can justify upgrading my daily.
