Ordered F56 in Volcanic Orange

Well I haven't posted on here in quite a while, but I ordered a volcanic orange MINI Cooper Hardtop yesterday after I test drove one. The 3 cylinder turbo really impressed me. Great low end torque - really, really responsive. The ride was also SO much smoother than my current R53.

So excited for my MINI to arrive! Hopefully the wait won't be too terribly long. Mine will have black bonnet stripes and black roof and mirror caps. I also went with the black victory wheels which I really like. For the interior I stuck with the standard seats and kept everything all black. I added an armrest and the storage package as well so I have somewhere to neatly store things for when I go biking. So the interior is pretty base but that's how the one I test drove was and I loved it.

So yeah, so stoked for my new MINI to arrive. This will be my first brand new car that I've ever had so that makes it even more special for me. And I know some people think the volcanic orange is hideous, but I saw an S in it and I love it. Can't wait!

Which suspension did you go with?

What did you think of the body roll compared to the R53? Did you take any fast turns?

I went with the standard suspension. I did take some fast corners and didn't notice any difference in body roll from my R53. Even if the F56 does have a hair more roll, it is outweighed by the smoothness over the R53. I was actually planning on getting the dynamic damper control and then decided not to spend the extra money since the standard F56 drove so nicely. But if you're looking at ordering I would test drive one first to see for yourself!

I seriously considered the volcanic orange, but went w/ the red -- flip of a coin. Thanks for the cornering comparison.

Where did you find an F56 to drive in the Tampa Bay area?

I ordered the MCS in volcanic orange, nice to see someone else get that color too. I've seen a bunch of posts about people not liking the color but for me it was the only logical choice. Congrats on your purchase. mine just finished production on the 1st, hope to see it by the end of the month.

My dealer has a Volcanic Orange '14 MCS in stock. It is a stunning color, and for sure you won't have to worry about losing your MINI in a parking lot. You're going to love it. Congratulations!

Here are some pics of one we received the other day. Sorry about the quality.
It is definitely a different kind of Mini compared to my R56.

It drove just like a vehicle that would be in between a Countryman and a Cooper.

I spotted one in the same color today at the C&C. It looks much better in person. Just need to keep the R53 together for a few more years. Enjoy the new ride!

So I ended up changing my order to include the sport seats and wired package. My MINI was already scheduled for production, but my dealer made an exception and let me start over and do a new order. So now I have to wait longer but I think it's worth it to get the connected and nav.

Just wanted to put this up so that people know your dealer is capable of making an exception and letting you change your order after production is scheduled :-)

Only if the dealer has an allocation for another car available.

My MA whom I test drove with in Scottsdale said Volcanic Orange was a great color when you see it, it doesn't come out the same on the configurator. Sort of like the Black Pearl leather/cloth seats. They look way different in person.

Totally agree. I saw an S in volcanic orange in person and it completely changed my mind from what I had seen in the configurator.

I asked my MA about the price of the driving lights but he didn't have the numbers. Can you tell us the cost? They look cool.

The part numbers are 63120417885 (black) 63210420292 (chrome) they list for $248.80. There are additional parts that may be required depending on the vehicles options.
