F56 2.0 liter vs 328i 2.0 liter

The BMW engine has 50bhp more. What are the differences?

I think if you compare the BMW 320i with 180 hp it is more in line with the F86 engine. I think I read somewhere that the JCW engine will be on par with the 328i engine putting out approx 240 hp.

Edit: Found it-231 hp

What he meant was the n20 motor in both and about 50hp missing?

Is this a different turbo or what ? Just ecu holdback?

The z4 is putting down about 240hp. So BMW did underrate the n20 in z4 guise.

I drove an auto z4 with the n20 and was very impressed!
Fun car ,, I have a feeling the n20 in the mini is going to be a blast and tune very well with great numbers!

I would like to see all the differences in the n20 between the mini and Z4.

I think that this is going to be great for the MINI tuning world, we have always had a motor/ecu combo that is/was a niche' market.

By sharing a motor with the BMW directly you are going to see all kinds of new tuning and after market options. It might take a bit for the tuner shops to figure the ECU out, but once they do I think you will see great gains, with nothing more than a tune.

I personal do not like the size of the car, but I love this new motor.

Does the F56 MCS use the N20 engine?

The 320i and 328i share the same basic engine except for the piston design. All major components are identical. It would be super awesome if the Mini used the 328i engine. Those cars are already making over 300 wheel horsepower on E85 with no other mods!

The F56 does not use the same engine as 328i.

The non-S 1.5L 3-cylinder engine is B37.
The S 2.0L 4-cylinder engine is B38.

The B38 is also used in BMW front wheel drive 2-series.

http://paultan.org/2014/02/25/bmws-n...e-255hp-400nm/

Looks like the B48 is safely good for up to 255 hp and 295 lb ft from the factory simply from ECU mapping changes?

If so, imagine what aftermarket tuning could do!

Sub-5 second 0-60 mph times for the F56 MCS with ECU tuning only, perhaps for around $500??

That would be awesome!
