Upper passenger side motor mount for Cooper S

I've just ordered a Cooper JCW, had a 2016 Cooper S. Got rid of it because it upset me that the motor mount was bad in less than 60K miles. Anyone know if they have improved this part or can I expect this to happen again?

There’s an extensive thread here about this motor mount, and I believe consensus is that the minor revisions to the part haven’t done anything to address the issue that causes it to fail in the first place…or so the “experts” in the thread say.

BMW has had motor mounts failing in this exact way for 20 years. Don’t expect a change. Just add it to the list of consumable parts and routine long term maintenance. :(

, just might have to! I think I'll keep the order in and I guess I'll just need to learn to live with it.

NICE!

The fun factor is well worth it. Pretty much if you buy a Mini and plan to keep it beyond warranty...you will be making repairs or having someone do it for you.

I enjoy working on the Mini, it is almost addictive

I just had to replace this mount on my F56 with about 48K. Also installed the power flex bushings to hopefully prevent this in the future.

I’d like to know how those work out, although I know it’ll be quite a few miles/years until we know anything. Has anyone else used these with success?

Man I had no idea they made these. Just did my lower Mount a few weeks back. Will definitely be adding these as well. Theres a heavy duty mount made by another company but I cant think of the name of it. But these are a lot cheaper. Woo-hoo.. At least unmounting doesn't have to take place to install

And here's the new inserts from powerflex. Haven't driven it yet but it definitely fills any voids so we shall see

That mount looks pretty saggy already? I wish someone would just come out with a full mount other than the direnza ones available. You would think a few companies would hop on this opportunity.

The direnza mount bushing just looks too small to be even remotely comfortable.

Definitely had some sag in it already and was only late July or August when I replaced it. So who knows. But hopefully these will pan out for a while. But a better option besides direnza would be a great opportunity for someone.

My first two cars, focus zx3 and Mazdaspeed 3, both have atleast 2-5 companies making these mounts since the OEM ones were known to tear as well.

I did all three of them on the Mazdaspeed 3 and that was a bit much, especially the upper transmission mount added a ton of transmission noise into the cabin. Of course I was commuting 20k miles a year then and now work remote so...

I'm curious if newer models with the revised mount/clubman jcw/gp3 mount have been having issues.

Forum mods need to make a pinned thread with this motor mount info since it seems to be the most widespread issue with this car.

I'm assuming this is one of the newer"better" mounts as I thought they revised them last year. But it's been since August. So only 7 months and has dome sag. So the issue probably still remains unfortunately. But here's to hope. Lol

I had the upper mount replaced and added the inserts yesterday when the mount failed at 65k miles. Hoping the inserts can extend the life of the mount a bit. Dealer wanted $1100 to do it. An independent mini shop did it for $850.

exactly what the dealer and the Indy wanted to do mine as well. I got rid of the car instead before I knew it was a common thing.

Kind of an expensive way to get a new engine mount, but if it floats your boat…

whew .that's a pricy repair either way. Do you know how long it took them? It took me about 5 hours give or take. The hardest part was finding out I removed more than needed . But the inserts seem to be doing well so far.

They had the car more than a whole business day. Probably 5-6 hrs. The part was not expensive. The labor was.
