Oh definitely the labor was the kicker. I rhink I paid around $110 for the mount us shipping. I'm glad they decided to make the inserts. Was a long install to have it collapse again too soon.

Mine failed at 46.8k miles. Luckily my extended warranty took care of it. Final cost from the dealership (that I didn't pay) was about $1k total and parts from the dealership was about $140. Glad it went bad while I have the extended warranty. =)

I know it's just me but there's no reason the labor should cost that much. Especially when everyday I see posts on a forum or Reddit where someone purchased a new car.
Some repairs I can understand. But that isn't a hard repair. It took me about 5 hours and I had no idea what I was getting into. They have it down step by step and shouldnt take but maybe two hours for a professional.

I'm glad your warranty was still valid to save you that money. I'd look into the powerflex inserts if I were you. Pretty cheap cost to possibly save the high repair in the future.

Just wanted to update but the motor mount inserts seem to help. But as was noticed after I installed the insets my mount already looked to have a sag in it.
Well I was wiping down the engine bay yesterday and I noticed a further drop in the mount itself. The top two inserts don't even touch the rubber of the mount any longer. But maybe the bottom inserts are what's saving it for the moment. No idea but not really looking forward to that 4 hour job again. Uggg. Pics attached

So the only real long term solution is to buy the ridiculously priced aftermarket mount mentioned elsewhere in this thread? 😞

My motor mount seemed to have a little sag already before i installed them. So that may be the starting issue to begin with. But honestly i dont remember the newer mount looking non-saggy but ill go back through to my install pics and see if i can find them. Im hoping these inserts will at least help some.
Ive also got the lower mount powerflex yellow bushing installed. had the black inserts installed in it. I just recently took those back out and it made a world of difference in the vibrations when idling.

Off to find those installation pictures from my new mount. Possibly in the what did you do to your Mini today thread.

Yikes. Guess I need to go find that cheap eBay USB horoscope and take a peek down there and see if my just-installed new motor mount with powerflex bushings is doing the same thing.

(I installed the JCW Clubman version of the part - with one of the plastic bits replaced with aluminum. We'll see how it holds up.)

BTW, a key tool for the job…
