Door jamb scuff marks caused by door's hard plastic.

This was mentioned on the other F56 forum, and I didn't really pay attention thinking it's an isolated issue, and also because I didn't know where exactly they were talking about.

So, I looked carefully at my 2015 F56 with about 500 miles and found I had the same scuff marks that they were talking about!
Since I already had some leftover 3M automotive films, I cut them up and put the protector on the frame where the door touches.

I'm pretty sure it's probably not going to wear out all the way to the bare metal during the lifetime of the car (15 years?), but I like to keep all my things nice and clean so I installed that film.

I think this is much more useful than door handle scuff pads, which the dealer tried to sell with $395 dealer prep fee. I mean nobody touches that area anyways. Maybe useful if you have a bear claw, like Kuma in Tekken2.

Great idea, you could use 3m or lamin-X i guess for the same thing.

I did the same thing to my F56.

This issue is really noticeable on dark colors like Midnight Black!

agreed, I have the F56 midnight black and had already thought about adding leading edge tape from my airplane to prevent the scratches.
