Door jamb scuff marks caused by door's hard plastic.

This was mentioned on the other F56 forum, and I didn't really pay attention thinking it's an isolated issue, and also because I didn't know where exactly they were talking about.
So, I looked carefully at my 2015 F56 with about 500 miles and found I had the same scuff marks that they were talking about! Since I already had some leftover 3M automotive films, I cut them up and put the protector on the frame where the door touches. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...1&d=1421301107 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...1&d=1421301107 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...1&d=1421301107 I'm pretty sure it's probably not going to wear out all the way to the bare metal during the lifetime of the car (15 years?), but I like to keep all my things nice and clean so I installed that film. I think this is much more useful than door handle scuff pads, which the dealer tried to sell with $395 dealer prep fee. I mean nobody touches that area anyways. Maybe useful if you have a bear claw, like Kuma in Tekken2. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...a_TTT2.jpg.png |
That's what that scuff Is from?!?!
I had it on my drivers side and was blaming it someone getting out of the backseat! |
Great idea, you could use 3m or lamin-X i guess for the same thing.

I did the same thing to my F56.
This issue is really noticeable on dark colors like Midnight Black! |
agreed, I have the F56 midnight black and had already thought about adding leading edge tape from my airplane to prevent the scratches.
