F56 find the rattles!

I'm not sure if any of you other F56 owners are as weird about little sounds, but things rattling around drive me insane!!!

I have two noises currently:
-one is on the right side and I can hear it when I go over bumps
-the other is somewhere in the front. i can hear it if i let up the clutch to the engagement zone quickly, pull out from a stop, shifting into 2nd, and going over bumps.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to pinpoint either.
Can we use this as a place to talk about different weird noises our cars are making and hopefully share solutions as well?

Thanks!

I've got one under the dash somewhere that I haven't been able to pinpoint. It's driving me crazy but at least it isn't very loud. Music at a normal volume overpowers it.

Dudes, just turn up the music is my recommendation. I've got one behind me on certain road surfaces. My other Mini had some too. A rattle thread would be long indeed. There's a reason that there was none on the R56 forum lol.

I've been able to fix all of the rattles in my wife's R55 by removing the offending piece and slipping some cardboard behind it.

yep, it's usually just an panel that does not fit properly. I usually put some foam behind it or two sided tape to hold it tight.

the problem is finding them....

Here's an easy one to get things started:
the 3rd sunvisor rattles when in the up position. i don't use the thing so i thought i'd have to tighten up the pivot points, but i found out that it will stay at horizontal on its own where it doesn't rattle and won't hit me on the head.

The rear sunroof screen rattles to no end when fully slid closed. It should have been made with a small rubber wrapping around part of the plastic frame so that when it's closed it would be snug and not rattle. I've got a piece of folded cardboard wedged between the screen and the sunroof frame....simply amazing!

The door locks and sunroof used to rattle in my 2009. Haven't heard anything in my 2015 yet.

I live in Chicago and drive over some properly crappy roads. I expect to get rattles - it's inevitable. However, the most annoying one that appeared seems to be coming from the drivers side B-pillar when going over bumps. Right. behind. my. ear.

did you guys have your rattles since day 1 or though? for the time being mine is free of rattles but only 800 miles. have noticed, but that might not be a rule, at least in bimmers that if the car does not develop rattles in the first thousands miles, it is likely that it wont past this mileage.

and also that once they appear it sucks as the dealer is usually not able to fix them in most cases...

mine just started to show up recently, I'm about 6k in. You expect to get them when you lower the car though. The stiffer ride makes them come out of the woodwork.

I found it, it's in the speaker thing in the center of the dash. I'm not even sure what it really does.

I had the most stupid rattle ever. My car has almost 5,000 miles on it. It was rattling for like 2 weeks and my husband realized it was my sunglasses in the arm rest. Easy enough fix but hilarous at the same time!

I have a rattling dash speaker as well. Really awful when speaking on the phone, and listening to sports radio is a problem. been to the dealership 2x to have it fixed with no luck.

Hmm, mine does it even with the radio off. It just seems loose or something. Guess I'll have the dealer take a look when I go in for my first service.

Mine also makes a very subtle noise in the front area when i let up the clutch and the car starts rolling and in bumps, seems to come from something loose knocking on the firewall.

I too have a right rear rattle, found out it's the rear passenger side seat belt clip against the hard plastic under the window. My sport suspension has a tendency to bring out a lot of knocks.

I'm getting a rattle (approx 150 miles on the car) somewhere around the driver side door lock. Just started up today.

I've got a clicking sound under the driver's side floor mat where the velcro clip locks in. If you put your left foot over that area you will hear a sound and can physically feel it pop while driving.

If you actually lift up the floor mat and push down on the velcro pad it actually pops and clicks like a snapple pop top. Anyone else got this?

I believe i have the same rattle as u.
When i purposely shake the front one while i am driving i hear the same noise that i have been hearing.

All i know is coming from the rear, and i have my bets on the rear sunroof screen.

I took mine in on Monday for this incredibly annoying noise. Of course it wouldn't do it when I took the tech for a ride around the block. I don't know if it was because o had driven an hour to get there and everything was warm or what. They kept it overnight and of course they couldn't hear anything. I'm supposed to be picking it up today so hopefully I can recreate the noise since it'll be cold. If it does I'm leaving it again.

If I can't, then I'll make a video of it and take it back again.

Oh and they decided the other rattle was something in my glovebox. It wasn't as I had emptied everything and it still made the noise so I put all of my crap back in.
