Rear Bumper Lights 2020 Clubman

If this is covered in another thread I apologize. When I open a barn door with the light switch in Auto, ignition off, the outer half of the bumper light illuminates, (a marking light?). With the ignition on and brake pedal depressed the ------I portion of the UJ illuminates. Crack the barn door with the brakes still depressed and the entirety (inside and outside) of the bumper light functions as a brake light. In all cases the taillight portion of the door light goes out when opening the barn door: Turn signal, emergency flasher, and brake light portion stay on. When I crack a barn door the bumper lights function as marker light, turn signal, emergency flasher, or brake light, whatever is being requested.

I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CODING, but for those that do could the barn door position sensor enter into the equation?

I'm not following...why are you concerned about the rear lights when you are opening the barn doors? What is it you want them to do?

I'm not concerned about the bumper lights, but it seems some people are. I had not seen any talk as to the lights correlation with the barn doors. Not looking for anything, informational only.

Okay - no worries. I haven't paid much attention when I open the doors, as I assume the lights are no longer serving a purpose (I'm out of the car, after all). The one thing I have coded is the rear fogs (found the instructions in another post on this forum). The brake lights are low in the bumper, and I have actually had someone tell me my brake lights were not working, as they were expecting the ones on the doors to light up. I coded the rear fogs to work with the brake lights, and now I have five brake lights instead of three. That definitely gets more attention in traffic.

My brake lights are in the door. The only time the lights in the bumper come on is if a barn door is not all the way closed.

They're meant to do that :-)

What you're describing is how they're meant to work. In the US and here in Australia, it's a requirement for all vehicles that the rear lights are visible with doors/hatches/whatever open. The first series Clubman cleverly got around that by having cut-outs in the doors.
For the F54, MINI's solution was to add bumper lights and the main light unit on the doors was next to useless.
For the LCI update with the Union Jack taillights, they've put in much more effort. Normally the main light units in the doors are the brake and tail/parking lights. But if you open the door, it switches to the bumper lights being the brake and tail/parking lights. I really like it for safety, because people look at the main light units to see if you're braking.

When coded, where are the rear fogs, in the bumper lights or door lights?

In the 2019, the rear fog lights are in the door. It's a small section in the part closest to the center line of the car. It sounds like the 2020 lights are different enough that I can't say if they're in the same place.

Tail lights with fogs on. Surprised they're not brighter, but hey, they work!

They are the inboard most lights (on my 2017)

Here is how the Euro spec lights work. Top picture: the blinkers are in the top half of the white strip across the lights, with the reversing light taking up the lower half. The blinker section appears white when it's off (as you can see in the 3rd photo), but has orange LEDs.

Euro spec cars have a reddish-orange section in the bumper lights. When the door is open, that's the orange blinker. Or at least when the hazard lights are on; I didn't check blinkers but why would you have a blinker on when the door's open? I guess it works as a blinker anyway. The blinkers in the doors continue to work with the door open; the bumper light blinkers are in addition. Same with the brake and tail/parking lights. And...

Here's where the fog light is on Euro spec cars. I presume it's the same on US spec. The light is red - it just looks orange here because phone camera.
