Light in the door?

I recently got a 2006 MCS. It has what looks like a little light in each door. It is a small round circle under the window. To my knowledge it has never lit up. If it is a light, when does it light up? Thanks.

thats a reflector and not a light, you can pop it out with your fingernail to see theres a screw behind the lense.

It's there so if you're parked ona street and your door is open and a car is approaching they can see the door.
