2020 Clubman is Coming

A new front bumper/grille treatment, some headlight upgrades, piano black exterior trim options, a few new colors, available union jack taillights, some new interior trim options.... no major design changes. And then, of course, a bit later on, the high HP JCW version. Possibly 0 - 60 in under 5 ticks, for a price.

Stay tuned.

Note the slight change in side mirror shape. And the front fog lamps are a bit different. And there are new wheel choices.

0-60 in under 5 ticks? Why would you believe that? The new F Series Countryman doesn't come close to that. Strange.

All4 was referencing the JCW trim. It will have the 302 hp engine and drive train found in BMW's X2. That car at 3700# does 0-60 in 4.9. The Clubman looks to be a little more aerodynamic and a couple of hundred pounds lighter so, yeah under 5 seconds seems to be a reasonable estimate. I am having a hard time with the grill treatment though.

When the new 300HP JCW shows up, it's gonna be fast. I don't see why it won't fly at least a second faster than what a mildly tuned Clubman S can now do. The new BMW X2 m35i, with essentially the same drivetrain as the new JCW Clubby is supposed to have, reportedly does 0 - 60 in 4.9. And the MINI will weigh much less. We'll find out soon enough.

Upon further review of the pics posted in this thread (Thank you All4) I notice that the rear bumperettes are missing. This prompts the question - is this a Euro model or the US version? The lights in the rear bumper are also noticeably different (US or Euro?) I am disappointed in the continued poor quality of the body stampings. Note the vertical match lines of the doors where they seem to have been forced into alignment. My 2017 F54 has the same appearance and it just does not meet my idea of 'Premium' that BMW touts. Two critical omissions for a Premium vehicle is the lack of blind spot monitors and heated steering wheel option. The blind spot monitors are a serious safety issue with the Clubman (not currently available on the X2 either) and both vehicles really need them. Maybe a few less disco lights and childish "let's motor hard" messages could help pay for those monitors. I guess I will have to cough up a few billion $ and build my own factory!

They won't make it faster than the 2 door. And I doubt they will keep it as fast as the BMW. The gearing has always held the MINI's back in my opinion when it comes to 0-60. Should be interesting.

The JCW Countryman does 0-60 in about 6.4. Weird that they would give the Countryman only 228HP and the Clubman 300. Perhaps they will all eventually get this engine?

Countryman is supposed to get the 300HP drivetrain as well -- probably will be available in this calendar year.

The word is that these versions of the Clubman and Countryman will require the auto tranny as the clutch and diff hardware required to handle the extra power are not available.

I take that old school grill in black please The new UK Flag tail lights look so dorky IMHO. Mini would have been better off designing new tail lights with the brake lights combined and make it a solid looking bumper but what do I know I am just a Consumer and I am not buying the restyled Clubby 4 sure

The new union jack taillights now incorporate the brake lights. The bumper lights remain because it is a requirement in many markets for there to be visible functioning taillights when tailgates are open; it's just most cars don't have taillights that swing away to require a second set of lights.

I have to laugh at the continued use of Union Jack styling. Given recent happenings in the UK, the union won't be around for much longer! If it's English style/taste you want, use the flag of St. George (red cross on a white background). And of course BMW has threatened multiple times to move MINI manufacturing away from Oxford due to #BrexitShambles.

I like the new wheels though!

My first post on NAM. I for one am really looking forward to the JCW clubman. It really have everything I could possible ask for in a car. Wanted a mini for so long- this might be the one for me. Going to hold onto my e46 zhp another year and hopefully find a cpo next summer. Number 1 requirement will be the malt brown leather. Open to exterior colors, 1st choose would be rebel green and black roof.

Will they stick the 8-speed or use a DCT?

Welcome to NAM and the World of MINI.

Word is it will be the 8 speed auto tranny in the high HP JCW.

Thanks All4 for sharing. Ive seen a youtube teaser but these static pics really show the minor refreshes.

What is interesting is that the grille patterns (for both versions on the models in your pics) extend over the 'horizontal bumper'. Spy pics of the GP 3 door also show the latticework over the previously smooth black 'bumper'. new corp design language.....

I also really appreciate more piano black options for outside too. Badges, clubman letters etc. I see they started showing up in the config AFTER i got mine like it

Little late on my comments, but...I bet those are pics of a Euro model just with NY plates on it for teaser pics. Even on the MINIusa site, the note at the bottom states "European Model Shown" below the pics. Funny that the rear view of the 2020 shows what looks like shrunken bumperettes, that just don't look right. Someone in their graphic arts group needs some more practice with Photochop I wish my rear turns were amber and not red, helps them stand out more, IMHO. I certainly agree with the door panel fits, they are like that on virtually every one I see, mine included as well. Certain colors and light angles help hide/highlight the non-linear surface mates. If you look at most of the MINI sourced photos of the F54's, they really show up, which you would think they would 'clean' that up electronically.

Rumor is that 2019 will be the last year for 3 cylinder Clubmen in the USA. I heard that for 2020 it will be S or JCW only. And the way things are headed, you three pedal Clubman S All4 drivers may have collectors items.
