I read some online article about the hottest sports cars you can buy now, and they said there's a hotshot Honda Civic 300+ HP model with killer brakes, and YOU CAN ONLY GET IT WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Who woulda thunk it?

+2 on that observation, way, way over-stylized. I think Toyota is trying to keep up with the latest generation Camry...that thing is starting to look just plain goofy...psst, it is still a CAMRY regardless of how 'sporty' it looks...

Looking forward to building a few when the MINI USA configurator will let us. Can't be MINI-less and my current Clubman lease ends this fall. And we do so love our Clubby. I'm getting too stodgy for the 300HP JCW, and my bones probably couldn't hack the firmer ride. But, we shall see....
Test drove the BMW X2. Five minutes into the drive my wife and I looked at each other and said, "Order another MINI."
Hoping our new 2020 will be built in September and delivered in the fall.
Word is Clubman is on life support, at least in the USA, due to dismal take rates. What don't people understand about these amazing little cars???

Thank you! We are excited to see the colors, which is a story in itself. There are NO paint samples available to look at, so we went ahead and took a chance. The color is known to the rest of the world as Indian Summer, but here in the states, it's Coral Red Metallic, which is believed to be the same thing.
And here comes the story. The Coral Red/Melting Silver combination which can be built on European MINI configurators, cannot be built by USA dealers. The system rejects the Silver option. Only Black or White roofs and mirrors are allowed.
But I have the most fantastic dealer who went to bat for me. MINIUSA told me "no," but, as many know, my mantra is "no is just the start of a conversation." The GSM at my dealer turned no into yes. My Vehicle Inquiry Report shows the 3AF Melting Silver Roof and Mirrors code. So we are hopeful.

Now, remember, waaay back in summer of 2016, I had to beg SWMBO to test drive a MINI. Once she drove a Clubman S All4 around a few corners, I couldn't get her to hit the brakes. Last week she agreed to indulge me and drove an X2. That was Wednesday. On Thursday, the dealer from whom we ordered our 2017 called to inform us he had pulled the necessary strings to get a one-off color combo we preferred and a few hours later he emailed us a Vehicle Information Report showing a 112 Scheduled for Production Order Status Code and showing the 3AF Silver Mirrors and Roof, and on Friday we went into see him to shake hands on the deal and get a preliminary lease end inspection.
It was harder than usual to do my customary aggressive deal grinding because the guy got us the colors we wanted even after MINIUSA told me a hard no. She Who Must told me, for once in my life, to let the guy make his $500 over invoice. So I'm hoping that traumatic capitulation will generate good karma.... come on MINIUSA incentives.

I'll just transfer my trusty little Dinan Sport tuner, leave a little blood sacrifice under the bonnet, maybe lose a sensor plug clip or two, and motor on in my hopefully not too pink 2020 Clubman S All4, with SILVER mirrors that -- you know this is coming-- are coded to fold and unfold upon my command.

I keep thinking that 300hp would be nice, but the S can get me in just as much trouble. Besides, I only have 18,000 miles on the car, it's hardly broken in.....
We just turned over 19,000 miles as we approach lease end. Car is as new, and worth about $23,000. Lease residual pay-off is $27,700, which is what I'd have to pay, plus sales tax and registration, were I to purchase it off of lease. Same car new today is over $40K, so I'm starting fresh and leasing again, for what will be a higher payment than last time around, unless incentives materialize.
I've been told that some of the coding options we like such as the folding mirrors have been made standard on later models. Will be curious to hear if this is the case.
That's good news/bad news. Good that it is possible without coding -- bad because I guess I'll need to find a new way to entertain the neighbors who seem to enjoying watching the crazy old dude with the MINI playing with his mirrors.
The incentives don't look anywhere near as attractive as when I bought my car. I got the zero rate financing they were offering. Mini Financial keeps pinging me with payoff amounts. I got the car at $4500 below list with free financing. Why the F.... should I pay it off.
You shouldn't. And just know you got a good deal on a great car.

Yeah but not while we're still alive! I too don't feel like I need anywhere near 300HP, the 220+ I have now is more than enough, but the Clubman itself is such a cool car I may have to have one next year. My Coupe will be 6 years old then and I usually drive 'em 6-7 yrs. What I wished was the the G4 Minis could come out so I could buy that (the gasoline one). But I guess that ain't gonna happen next year. I could wait til 2021 but I'm doubting it will happen then either.

Is it too early to call dibs?
I constantly waffle between "I love being able to wring my car out without getting arrested" and "Dangnabit my car is too dang slow!".
The balance point is that it costs ~$40k less to be happy with what I have. =P

I test drove a 2020 JCW Clubman several days ago. It’s stout. Very fast and nimble. Definitely a sub 5 second car. Best part was the exhaust sound in sport mode. Deep and throaty. Some pops and bangs but nothing like a f56 with the pro exhaust set up. A big step up from the pre facelift version and my 19 JCW HT. The one I drove was iconic trim with leather JCW sport seats. A very nice car that looks good in the metal. The new mirror housings are nice too. A bit too big for me but a nice car nonetheless. Whoever is buying the JCW version will be happy.

2020 MINI Cooper Clubman JCW is almost complete!
Ordered last month and got fast tracked by my motoring advisor at Hendrick in Charlotte NC. Here's the spec - Midnight Black, Red Roof/Mirrors, Signature Package, Cloth JCW seats. Added Nav just so I can have Apple Car Play and Storage Pack. I'm unsure if the front and rear headlight surrournds are black ....
