I started out with the plan to do this full retrofit but after looking at a car on the show floor decided to just do part of it - namely just the floor 51477360761. IMO the storage bins are so tiny they have limited use and the rest of it isn't all that critical unless you really think you need to prop up the floor or tie down something. Everyone has their own uses but since I did this, I haven't looked back or felt like I wish I had X from the kit.
Anyhow, to your actual question around the 12VDC power port, I did put something like this in - but I put it into the back seat so passengers could charge phones and so on and I just went with a USB port instead of a 12VDC, I simply ran a pair of wires up to the center console where there is a 12VDC outlet and tapped into that using snap-on taps. I then just drilled a hole in the rear of the center console and called it done. No issues with the power port being overloaded. If you decide to get the official power port for the trunk I think you'll have to do the same since as I have found, in the infinite wisdom of BMW, if the car doesn't have the option they don't put the wiring in. IDK why they bother since you would think having one wiring harness would be more cost effective but it is a frustrating part of the car.
I wish I had taken a few pics of the front center console but it basically isn't much to look at once you pull it out.
This is what is underneath the rear cover, just enough room on the lower left to snake through wires and fit the USB plug. After everything was installed. Added a key fob logo to the cover
I’m in it for the false floor and the upright position for the back seats…both for the comfort of the dog. 😅
I found part of the wiring harness for right and left trunk from a junked f54 with the storage package, so if I get ambitious maybe I’ll swap those out to get a working power socket back there. The left side trim is currently hanging me up, can’t find one in the states at all. 😕

Does 51477360761 (false floor/hidden trunk cover) just rest in the grooves on either side of the trunk? I am interested in just that part as long as it is quickly removable and sturdy.
Please help me catch up. I'm going to buy a MC 4 door which doesn't have the storage package.
The element I'm interested in is the floor that can have two positions.
Is that adjustable floor I'm interested in the same as the "false floor/hidden trunk cover"?

Yes, I think so.
P/N 51477360761 (false floor/hidden trunk cover)
The floor is one piece that has a fabric hinge in it to allow for access to the area just inside the rear doors/bumper without having to raise the entire floor. Once you raise the entire floor you can get access to the "spare tire" area. The floor raises/pivots in the back via two plastic clips which go into the frame. If you want the floor to actually stay in the open position then you also need to replace the trunk sidewalls which have retaining clips in them which is a lot of effort/cost IMO. It is the clips that give it a second "position" (open) with the other position being closed flat on the floor. If you think you need the second position for something regularly then it might be worth the investment in new sidewalls but otherwise I would suggest just going with the floor only.
I've stumbled across this thread whilst looking up some info re the rear trunk – brilliant post and info by @reidmefirst + others! Many thanks. I know the thread is originally a little old now, but hopefully this will still get a look and that @reidmefirst is still following.....
So, here's my situation: I have a late '21 JCW F54, in Australia. I DO have the Storage Package, fitted from factory – basically it was a full spec car when ordered (they just have 3 'set' spec versions to choose from here, no ability to custom option etc, just the way they do it here, annoyingly)...The car basically has 98% of possible options I think, but there are some 'odd' omissions....
And this is one – I have the storage package (Recessed storage, lift up flap, side holders etc), BUT my side trim panels DO NOT have the metal Tie-Down D-Rings..! There's round 'indents' on the two side positions, but obviously no cut out for the D-Rings and there's also nothing at the rear positions either side of the plastic bumper trim piece....It's always bugged me and is kind of annoying having things fly around the trunk when they're small and with no easy option of a cargo net to hold things down etc.....
I'm presuming the car must have the' third' option for the trunk side trim (Storage Pack= Yes, Trunk Room Net= No), so parts# 51479462165 & 51479462166 ??, as seen on RealOEM page
I also don't have the Elastic Side Strap(s) as seen on the panel used by the OP.
So, can anyone confirm, and ideally any JCW owners, is it just a case of getting the D-Rings/Covers as well as the plate Adapters for the rear positions...i.e the bolt holes etc on the body will be there and the same...?? I'm presuming the JCW bodywork shouldn't be any different for these D-Ring attachments, particularly the rear D-Ring positions using the 'Adapter' brackets at the rear bumper..??
I'm unsure also whether to go to the expense of replacing the trim panels or just attempt to 'cut out' the required holes for the D-Rings...I presume the former is obviously going to be the neater end result – I can imagine the rear positions being a bit problematic...
Any experience and relevant advice would be much appreciated...!
I've also made a couple of notes under @reidmefirst pics below –
Finally, does anyone know if MINI actually do a floor Cargo Net to use with these rings..?! I can't seem to find anything. They used to (I have one that I got for our R53) for the Gen1/2, but there doesn't seem anything listed for the F54 etc – there is one intended for the 'underside' of the storage flap/recessed area (which I don't really see the sense of personally), but has a 6 point fixing it seems....And if they don't have a specific cargo net for this location, what are the rings intended for...?!
Thanks!

It's curious that these are required at the rear position and there isn't threaded holes for the D-Ring bolts on the bodywork. So I presume the trim panel fits 'over' these brackets and then it's just the attached D-Ring that sits on the trim piece..?

Does the metal backplate of the D-Ring sit against the fabric trim or does it fit through the cut-out in the panel and meet with the metal of the bodywork...? I'm just trying to judge whether new trim panels with the 'correct' cut outs are worth it or whether I could hack a result from my current panels...!?
Thanks to all in advance.

Just a follow up FYI, these are the trunk side trims that my F54 came from factory with...
As you can see, I have the Storage Option and all the relevant bits, but no D-Rings (nor elastic strap on opposite side)...
There's a circular indent at the side D-ring position....though smooth at the rear bumper position....
Apologies for poor pic quality, quick take in the dark garage..!
If I were in your position, I would remove a panel and see if there is a bolt receiver on the vehicle frame. Probably there is. If there is, I would simply cut a hole in the existing panel to screw the tie down ring through. The nice thing about the rings is that they have a little plastic trim cover. So even if your holes are not cut perfectly, noone has to know.
When I ordered my new side panels with the storage pockets, they did take quite a while to arrive. Plus, I believe that no MINIs after 2019 got the attachment rings from factory. I will guess that MINI revised the part number for the storage package trim panels at that time, and stopped making the ones with the holes punched out entirely.
For the ring at the rear of the vehicle you will need those adapter plates, and yes the trim panel fits over the plate. The plate is fairly snug in that the rear of the panel rests right up against the plate. There should be a threaded stud sticking up from the frame of the vehicle to bolt the plate on with. Should be easy enough to cut a hole with a little measuring during a test fitment of the trim with the plate installed.
Of course, if you do happen to take off the aussie driver side panel, perhaps you could snap a few photos of where the cigarette lighter/power adapter back there is wired up to? I never did get mine properly wired and I should probably get on that one of these days =).
Apologies for my delay, have been away...
Thanks for the reply and chipping in – very helpful!

Yes, it is! As I said, really annoying having small things flying around the boot, but even more frustrating when the mounting points are there behind the trim (hope they are!)....Just seems a strange omission...
Do you have a cargo net for yours? I can't seem to find any trace of one specifically for Gen3 Minis..?

This is my current catch22 – I don't particularly want to disturb my current trim until the point I'm doing the job (or not if there's no mounts!) but I ideally need to remove the trim to confirm the existence of the mount points..! My gut tells me the chassis must have the mounts and it's just been a trim/accessory omission since a certain time, I can't see them altering the metal bodywork..? I guess the other factor is mine is a JCW and could there be a difference there..? Ideally need someone with a '22 or later JCW F54 to confirm they have the D-Rings fitted..??🤞
I'm undecided whether to just keep my current trims and cut the holes Vs ordering new trims with the factory cut-outs – I take your point re the D-ring covers masking the cutouts, but from images I've seen the covers aren't all that much larger, so still a fairly precise cutout required – not just a hole for the bolt?...and looking at the relevant trims, it's quite a particular shaped cutout – it's as if the D-ring fits into the hole to some extent, I'm not sure how much thickness the panel has at these points..? The images of the D-Ring on ECS look like there's a certain depth to them, with prongs at the rear...

I'm not sure about this – according to realoem, there are THREE versions available for the trunk side trims: One is for No Storage Package + No Luggage Net, one is for Yes Storage Package + No Luggage Net and the 3rd one is Yes Storage Package + Yes Luggage Net, the latter being the ones you got I think – so eg for the left trim, part numbers are 1477360767, 51479462165 and 51477360773 (Some of these trim parts, mainly the ones that are 'No' versions, are labelled NoS on realoem, which is No Stock (Part Not centrally Stocked), whatever that means...?
I've also recently seen a set of trims that HAVE the D-ring Cut outs and Storage package etc but DON'T have that Elastic Strap holder that is on yours..? There seems to be a number of variations and I guess they just kept tweaking for some reason....
Really strange re the D-rings, if that's true that since 2019 they haven't been fitted...Why have the indents on the trim panels..?!
IF I do go for new trims, then I was looking to order 51477360773 and 51477360774, which is what you got I believe...So they should be exactly the same: Cut outs for the D-Rings, all the Storage Package fitments, lock cut out etc...re the elastic 'Tension Strap', I haven't a clue – it's shown on the realoem parts diagram and even has a separate part# 51477444840, but as I say, have seen a set of trims without that strap..🤷♂️
A lot depends on costs: MINI/BMW Australia want a silly price and they're ex-Germany at up to 8 weeks. ECS have them listed and decent price, but then shipping to Australia was like US$200+ each, so that's out! I have a friend back in the UK who's a MINI specialist and can supply the trims at a good price, just need to see if shipping will at all be viable....
Or, I'll be attempting to cut out the current trims! Just makes me a bit nervous taking a blade to the current ones and the car still has a 'as new' feel to it..!

Are those rear locations easy to access by chance, or does all the other trim have to be removed first before that bit can be accessed..? I was just wondering if it would be the easiest bit to try and have a peek behind and see if the bolt is on the bodywork etc, I'd then be reasonably confident re the side location situation...

No problem, of course! It probably won't be for 3-4 weeks if you can hold on longer, though it's been since 2020 for you so I guess it won't hurt too much..!🤣
I'm actually planning on a dashcam install, incl a rear camera and an external battery in the trunk, so I'm definitely going to be removing at least one of those trim panels, just not sure which side yet..! But my thinking is to sort these D-Rings all at the same time as the camera install, so if I do also get new trims I'll be having both sides off anyway....But one way or the other I'll certainly have a look at the OEM wiring at the 12V Outlet and take some pics for you....
Thanks again for your input.
Cheers,

So here's another set of trim variations: That have the D-Ring Cutouts, Storage Package etc but that don't have the elastic tension Strap...
Pulled out of a F54 back in the UK (don't know model or date yet)

Those look exactly like mine in my '17. I don't have the elastic tension strap, but have the storage and d-rings as a point of reference.
Certainly seems like '17–'19 often have the D-rings etc...Since then, it's either hit and miss or generally not fitted from factory, but the parts available and I suspect the body frame is accommodating....
Can anyone with a '21 or later F54 confirm if they have the tie-down D-rings fitted, either from factory or retro-fitted and the fixing points were indeed on the body frame. Bonus points if it's a JCW also..! 😀
The elastic tension strap, I'm even more confused about....
But if I can fit the tie-down rings at least, I'll be happy...And Oxford can send me credit for doing their work...🤣

So just a FYI for all JCW F54 (and I presume all other variants) owners that are '21/22 or later – the bodywork does still seem to have the fixing positions for the D-Rings, despite MINI seemingly no longer factory fitting the storage D-Rings and the supplied 'Storage Package' trim panels being 'delete' plain...
I eventually got round to removing the rear plastic trim and having a peek under the existing trim – Fixing Bolt for Retainer Bracket
I currently have replacement side trims with the D-Ring cutouts (#51477360773 & #51477360774), as well as the rings and fixings etc, on their way to me from the UK – got a great price and even with shipping all worked out waaaaay cheaper than local MINI quote here (which was also ex-Germany 6+weeks)..! 🙄
Once the parts are here I'll do the swap over – I'm planning a Dashcam install (incl Rear) so the aim is to do everything at once...
Thanks again to everyone who has contributed info in this thread, especially @reidmefirst (I'll check out that 12v Outlet wiring, if you still need it?)

P.S. Makes me laugh how they only paint what they need to paint...!
My 2017 All4 S (11/2016 build date) has the storage package with everything.... 4 D-rings, floor, & elastic straps,
Wild, as I ordered my '17 on 10/31/2016 (Halloween) and it was delivered on 12/9/2016. Need to go back and look at the production record to see when it was going through final build, but had to be in the month of November, like yours. Wonder if it was a running change and each of our vehicles are on either side of that change.
