2018 vs 2019 Trailer Hitch

As of October 2018 I am not finding much information about applicable trailer hitches and wiring harnesses for a 2019 JCW Clubman. Does anyone know if there are any differences in the rear end between the 2018 and 2019 JCW that would prevent me using last year's hitch model?

I'm tossed up between the MiniDoMore version (cleaner install but looks like it would be harder to attach the drawbar) vs the Curt hitch (just below the bumper so it is easier to access). I also need a 7-pin electrical connector for the trailer I want to haul. We use an 1100lb trailer to RV with the Mini and would like to be able to use the Mini to bring the trailer home when I drop the RV off for service.

Bryan

I ask my Dealer/Service Guru the last time I was in for Service about a hitch on the Clubby and his words has been...."technically the Clubman is really not designed for towing ( I would read that as a install it at your own risk it could void the warranty if you have damage) I understand that people will install hitches but I have not found a hitch yet that I could approve of".

I was told the same thing by service, but buried in the manuals somewhere it does say the max tow rating (1400lbs and 200lb I think). I am comfortable with the "at my own risk" part. I just can't confirm that the 2018 parts will fit the 2019. I'm 99% certain they will fit.

I am no expert but I would think they are the same. Can not hurt to contact Mini Mania or Out Motoring for a 2nd Opinion.

here is a link for Mini Mania.

Curious, I am thinking of getting the Airstream Basecamp. Something small that I can take with me to a couple of reservoirs in my area next summer. The trailer weighs 3500lbs, do you think my 2017 Clubman All4 would be able to tow it? What’s the risk of damaging the transmission?

I have always been a believer in using the right tool for the job at hand. No where in the owners' manuals have I found any specific information blessing the use of hitches/trailers. At high risk is the transmission, brakes and of course the occupants health and welfare. Checking the gross vehicle weight charts in the on line owners' manuals you will be about 2500 pounds over the listed max. But as the old saying goes, 'it's your baby Rosemary'. Just do not expect anything other than laughter if you try to get the dealer to assist you with a claim. You may find that the most stress free approach to your adventures is to rent a mid size SUV for the duration of the trip planned. Happy trails!

Clubman - A passing semi will literally blow you off the road. It's not the weight, but the surface area you need to worry about.

Searching through documents it appears that the published tow capacity of the vehicle is 1400lbs. When the towed weight exceeds the vehicle weight you're asking for trouble without a really good setup like a fifth wheel or weight distribution hitch at the least.
