Cool Heads up display polarized?

I just got a new pair of sunglasses (prescription) that appear to have a polarization not very compatible with the projection on the heads up. :(
My previous sunglasses were either not very polarized, or were of a compatible polarization. I get a SIGNIFICANT dimming of the displayed information. :(

meh.

anyone else have this kind of issue?
No problem with any other display in the car.

My MINI does not have heads up but my 2016 Corvette does and yes the HUD is dimmer with certain polarized sunglasses - specifically Oakley.

My new ones are Bolle. The [old] Ray Bans work fine, but have a 10 year old prescription.

it's the glasses ... and not unique to MINI

I have a new pair of RayBan that I can't wear in my 79 cuz the spotting is so bad

and even in the 15 Mini and my 14 Focus ST they can make LED displays almost disappear

first noticed this when kids bought me a sweet new pair of RayBans and then took me out ... I was riding in the back seat of son's (fairly new) car - not a MINI - and the LED display of the radio disappeared. I was remiss to tell him his new car had a problem ....

Next day wore the new glasses in my MINI and the radio display was gone .....

then I lifted the glasses ...... and everything was back to normal.

Yes ... that is an issue with polarized glasses. Tough call ... here in FL, polarized glasses are almost essential between intense glare and whiteout rains. The good part is that the displays are merely dimmed ... my old E39 M5 displays totally disappear.

Just tip your head from left to right to find the correct viewing angle

Yeah, I recall pilots having to give up their polarized sunglasses when airplane displays went to LCD, since the way LCDs work is using polarized glass.

Yes, fortunately, that works very well, only requires about 10deg tilt of my head, doesn't reduce the annoyance factor, but since it's only the one thing it's ok.

But see, it's like a club with a secret handshake. All the people with heads up displays will now be able to recognize one another because you'll all be walking around with your cool designer shades on and your heads tilted 10 degrees. Clearly a whole new kinda cool
