Where to Put the V1 Remote on the R56

I located my Valentine 1 just to the right of my rearview mirror. Right now, the remote unit is mounting on the lighter plug adapter on my cigarette lighter. Problem is, when my music is up load, I can't hear the alerts and the flashing lights of the remote are not readily visible without looking down. But, I cannot find a decent place to mount the thing. I was considering mounting it on the bottom of the huge speedo dial. It will fit there without obstructing anything, but there is no way to hide the wires there. Does anyone have an idea for a good place to mount the remote, where wires can be hidden without drilling holes anywhere?

I dont have my MCS yet, but I have a RX65 and that is my same concern. So I sat in a MCS for about an hour trying to figure out where the remote should go. I want my remote "hidden" and easy to see/reach. I have decided to put the remote far upper left hand side of the A Pillar. It will snug up in there nicely and I can still hide all the cables under the headliner. A piece of velcro should hold the remote there, if not I will make a clip for it.

There's my plan.

I thought about that. But, then it is still readily visible from outside the car when the indicators light.

I think I found a perfect spot. On the left side of the dash, just to the right of the air vent is a small shelf. The remote fits there perfectly. It's clearly in the vision yet not readily visible from outside the car. Depending where you keep the steering wheel, this spot might be obstructed for some, but it works for me.

i think if you searched from a while back someone got the remote part to fit in a gauge pod that sat next to the tach. i dont think gauge pods are out yet for the R56 yet but that could be a possibility

So I direct wired my RX65 this morning. I am very happy with the install and it sure looks sleek. Here are some photos of the finished product and more photos in my gallery. Enjoy.

Only thing I would be afraid of is the airbag mounted in that pillar!
Wonder how far it would launch it?

i briefly thought of that, 1st it would fly to the the right because of the cable routing, and 2nd, there are worse things concerning me if I get in a crash.

I like it there because its close to arms reach, when the light goes off, very visable and not that noticable from the inside, and really hard too see from the outside.

I considered that location, but decided on where I put mine because (1) it is not visible unless you are standing right outside the car; (2) the airbag issue is gone; (3) it cannot otherwise bean you in the head if it comes off for any reason; (4) it is located in an otherwise vacant spot that is the perfect size for the V1 remote display; (5) it is extremely easy to reach the mute button without any obvious motion being detected from outside the car. Both my son and I noticed another psychological effect. Even though the sound still comes out of the main unit, it sounds like it is coming from the remote!

I have my V1 mounted to the left of my rear view. I put the remote display on the top right side of my column,on top of my auxiliary gauge pod. Its kind of pinched between the dash and the column. Ive had it there for about a yr now and have no problems.

How about using the mount that the Garmin/Mini nav uses? It attaches to the rev counter.
