OEM dealer installed Driving lights. Can I put on PIAAs with no problems?
Same as exterior mods...

One of my dealer-installed driving lights took a shot from a rock chip and broke. The dealer wanted an insane amount of money to replace it. I could get two brand new ones from PIAA for that price.

So my question is - is the wiring setup for the OEM lights compatible with PIAA lights? I can't see why it wouldn't be, but you never know.

Will I have to replace the brackets? Do I need to buy a full kit, or does PIAA sell just the lights themselves sans wiring and brackets?

Thanks so much and I apologize if these are really stupid questions.

Go here http://www.piaa.com

Decide on which PIAAs you want. Get the part numbers

Then google for the best price!

You might want to look at http://www.hellausa.com though. Hella is top quality. PIAA ... so so but that is an opinion.

Here they are. I like the Hella ones, but all the ones that I've seen are just a little large for my taste...

those are the size I want. Can you get them with chrome instead of black housings, and run them without the mesh?

Wait, you said a rock broke the bulb or the entire light/housing unit? Cause the lens/bulb is one peice and you should just be able to buy a new bulb for farily cheap anywhere online. I am not sure what the P/N is though, check the back of the bulb.

Yeah, the rock went through the front of the housing. The bulb wasn't burnt out at first, but then moisture got in there.

And something else - the OEM lights are rusty on the bottom where the light meets the mouting brackets. I think they are very cheap, and it's sad that the dealership would charge SO much money for them...

540s, yeah, you should be able to add them. Just have to splice in the wiring. if you look at the PIAA site, you will see the exact dimensions. They just have a bolt straight down. Make sure there is a place on the current MINI mounts for that bolt.

Try looking at Hella FF200s. They are Smaller than the 540s and give more light and 1/2 the price ... http://www.rallylights.com/hella/ff200.asp $115.
