PIAA Extreme White Halogen Bulbs

Hi

I want to replace the highs (H7), fogs (H11) and Driving (H3) lights with the 55w PIAA Extreme Whites

Has anyone does this? If so, are they physically hotter and more likely to melt parts (not worried about wiring since its still 55 watts)? What has been the lifetime before burnout?

I do not want 100 watt bulbs for all kinds of reasons.

i replaced my halogens with some cheapo xenon knock-offs, even for prolonge period of keeping my day time running lights on (just the front low beams on halogen) it has not caused overheating..

unless you go with something along 10000k xenon bulbs, you are not likely to melt stock wires

Wires are not an issue. The PIAA extreme white are 55 watts bulbs, just like your OEM bulbs. I am more concerned with the reflectors or housings?

mine hasnt burn the reflectors yet

just curious.. in the states isn't there no day time running lights? so the chance of you using those halogens would only be during high beam situations.. right?

i have 6000k xenons and 4k halogens, no overheating ever... not even in dreaded 30 celcius degrees at 100% humidity...

We have DRLs. That is a dealer programming option. I have the DRLs on ... its a safety thing, not for the driver but for others to see you. I think they run the high beams at like 1/2 power or something like that.

The PIAA bulbs are crap. Don't do it. If you want brighter lights, go to http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ and buy his H-7 65-watters, for a 75% increase in brightness at half the price of PIAA's.

While you are there, do some reading, and understand why...

These are really good too for your Fog lights and front markers. I have been using those for almost a year with no issues.
PM if interested.

When you guys say "Driving" lights, is that the same as your "Park Lights"? Which is the small one which shares the same cluster as the indicator?

Because that's the light I want to make bright white if possible.

"Driving" lights refer to the optional lamps usually attached to the front grille as seen here MINI OEM Driving lights

Chows4us, I was also thinking about upgrading all the non-Xenon lamps to PIAA Xtreme Whites as you original thought and I was curious how happy you were after upgrading to the Phillips Vision Plus or if you wish you had gone with the PIAA. Did the Phillips make a noticeable difference in brightness, depth or power, or color temperature compared to the OEM halogens? (And were the Phillips 55w to match the OEMs?)
