Another Remote Question

Is there any modifications that can be made to extend the range of the remote the 05 MCS? 8 feet is way too close. I am hoping for more like 50 feet.

Touch the blade of your key to your chin or cheek while you press the button. Your body acts as an antenna and extends the range significantly. Maybe 30 feet or so.

I've also heard that if you jump up and down also, you'll be able to gain an extra 5 feet or so...

Seriously, holding the key at your chin while pressing the buttons increases the range dramatically. Why? Not sure. Has to be some resonance effect in order to increase the range. All I know is that I heard of doing this before, scoffed at it, but still went outside and tested the claim. Sure enough, it made a difference.

And this is in my field of work too!

Try it!

It's most odd that touching your key to part of your head has a MUCH greater effect than just touching it to your finger. That doesn't make it untrue though.

I never tried while jumping up and down.

It's absolutely true: touching the key metal to your face while pushing the button absolutely gives you an extra 25 or 30 feet of range.

(If you can do it while patting the top of your head and rubbing your belly with the other hand, you get 10 bonus feet.)

However, if you're not willing to touch the key to your chin, just holding your key vertical as opposed to holding it horizontal and pointing it at your car will also increse the range of your key.

Both solutions sound silly, but they really do work!

Um... for you "face touchers" out there, it may not be your face doing the trick. The human body makes a pretty poor reflector for radio waves.

Depending on where the receptive surface in the car is, raising the key to a level higher than your waist or pocket probably improves the line of sight from the key to the car, thus allowing it to "hear" the signal better.

With a clear line of sight, I've found mine works fine from my lowered hand at distances up to about 30-40 feet (sometimes more, if the car is clean), no "touching" required.
