Electrical Guage question
Guage question
Looking into getting some extra guages. I want air fuel ratio, boost pressure, and I guess oil and water temp guages. Going for a manic stage 2 tune and want to be able to make sure my car is running safely. What are some good cost effective reliable guages. Also approximately how much will the install cost? Thanks for the help!
I have a ProSport premium boost gauge w/ Alta gauge mount. The gauge is noisy, but works well and looks great imo. They make everything you mentioned, except the a/f.

I'm not sure about the install cost. I installed mine myself w/ thanks 100% to the write-up that Alta did.

Could you post a link to where you got it. I'm curious what guages you guys think I need. I want to have the information I need to make sure my car is within safe parameters. What is a good Bluetooth obd2 scan tool and how much less accurate are they. Will is show afr
I question the comment about mechanical gauges being more accurate. I would trust the sensors that are already installed in the car. They are the same ones that the cars computers use.

The P3 gauge is sold by many of the aftermarket suppliers that post on this site. They are not cheap but cheaper then purchasing the factory setup. I tried the Scan gauge 2 but the font is too small for my eyes. The P3 is perfect as i had one in my VW GTI for quite a few years.
As much as I'd like to believe that, with a bluetooth OBDII and Torque app I was getting a peak boost reading of 24 PSI. If I've read around correctly peak boost even with a Manic tune should be ~20.

With a mechanical gauge that measures pressure directly with a tube connected to the manifold you will have pressure losses in the tube and fittings which may need to be accounted for depending on their magnitudes. The one nice thing about a mechanical gauge is that they tend to be self-dampening so the instantaneous peaks are automatically "filtered" out.

I looked it up and that is really cool. One of the main reasons that i need it though is for the AFR. From some of the videos that i watched i didn't see that function like i did in the Scan Gauge 2. Is it possible. I like that one a lot more although the Scan Gauge 2 shows more at once.
