Dash2 Pro Installation

Hello Everyone,

Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Quinton, I don't currently own a Mini, but I have taken on the task of installing a Dash 2 Pro for a member of yours.

The dash is going into a car by the name of "Buddy." If you are unfamiliar with the car in which I am speaking about, here is a few links in which you can follow up on.

Now to get on topic. I've got a great pdf that tells me what color most of the wires I need are. However, I'm having a bit of difficulty locating a few of them and I was wondering if some of you could shed some light for me.

Here is the link to the pdf file: http://www.amtgarageforum.nl/public/...303-wiring.pdf

The wires I'm most concerned with finding at this point in time are the wires that indicate when the high beams are on, the left and right turn signal wires, the wheel speed input wire, and the alternator or battery light warning light.

If you have any idea which ones would be the ones, that would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much,
Quinton

Schematic is here. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/

You need Java and adobes SVG viewer and Internet explorer. Add the website to the Java list of secure websites if you can't load the applet on the latest Java which is located in Control Panel.

All the schematics are hyperlinked. The speed signal pulse is connected to the navigation computer and fed from an ABS sensor. Hence if you find the MINI nav retrofit pdf it will detail both the colour and position of the speed sensor connector. The connector will be a fan connector that can be purchased from BMW if you use realoem.com and the E36 electrical parts list to get the correct crimp for a 1.5-2.5mm cable.

As for the other signals you'll need the schematic.

Colour codes
RT Red
SW Black
GN Green
BR Brown
GE Yellow
WS White
VI Violet
GR Grey
BL Blue

So RT/WS/GE is the iBus, red cable, white tracer, dotted yellow. GND is always brown, ignition is violet with a stripe, unfused battery is red, fused is red with a stripe.
