Wire Color Codes

Anyone have a list of what abbreviations Mini uses for the various colors of wires?

In the Hot or Not Fuse thread this was posted.

BMW WIRING COLOR CODES
Code German English
BL blau blue
BR braun brown
GE gelb yellow
GR grau gray
GN grun green
RT rot red
SW schwartz black
WS weiss white
VI violett violet

Is this a complete list? I've looked through the WDS but so far no luck finding these.

lu7s, it's nice that you provided a link like that, but even experienced mechanics will have difficulty navigating thru that mess to find what he's asking about....

to the OP, why do you ask? Is there a particular wire you're tying to trace or what? if so, lu7s link may be what you need.....

You have pretty much all of the colors listed, but you know there will be combinations, right? Things like red wire with a purple trace, or white with red and so on....

So what is it you're trying to do?

I've been using the WDS for 3 years now. I have it stored offline. I'm planning a gauge install and looking for a non-dimming dash lighting wire. I know about the combination's for colors.

I was just wondering if that was all of them that are used.
