No. I run torque on a phone, but that's not installed right now, neither is my obd Bluetooth thing, an all my other electronics run off either relays or the 12v socket.

So, it's either the cap, which I researched heavily (it's a 1 farad "Raptor" brand) or something with the solar panels. I may wire in an additional diode into the solar panels, and I'll just have to measure the cap, see if it's holding a charge. Still have to watch the video for a voltage leak, but I'll get it done.

I can tell you now that unless there is a relay to disconnect that 1F cap when the ignition is off, that it's the cap. Those things leak worse than Snowden.

I think your right the more I thnk about it. The caps maybe. Year or more old by now, and I've never had issues before.

Wonder how big of a relay I need to be connecting and disconnecting that cap?

To do it safely without risk of arc discharge with a 1F cap? Honestly not sure. Also if you have to try to start the car several times you don't want the relay clicking the cap in and out. I strongly recommend ditching the capacitor. the ESR usually renders them useless trinkets for audio.

Well, it's funny. My cap isn't hooked to audio.... It's being used as a "racing voltage stabilizer". Did a bunch of research on that subject. Several items were bunk of course, so decided to "make my own". The concept of it is interesting, and the car idled a little smoother with it when it was new...

I am concerned with the relay clicking on and arcing. I have huge 10 gauge wire from the cap to the battery and ground. Had to use a huge fuse too. I dunno. More research I guess!

Hmm a racing mod? Maybe you could look at one of those alternator load cutout switches. Frankly it all seems about as much use as rearranging the deckchairs on the titanic.

Wow...

You might just want to toss that into the garbage sir.

Your car's battery is a much better "voltage stabilizer" than any aftermarket audio component.

Don't fool yourself.

Well, I removed the fuse for the cap.

Went to the store, and just as it got dark, I noticed on the ride home that my Knight Rider led light strip was on! Forgot that thing turns on if you remove the battery and re connect it! That may have been causing this recent voltage drain. But further testing will happen just to be sure.

As for the cap, electronically, as long as the cap is "good", electronic theory dictates the cap is indeed an additional battery. Cap stays unless it's junk. Titanic deck chairs or not :P
