Help from those who have done a heated seat wiring retrofit?

Hi there

For anyone who has done a retrofit of the wiring harness to enable heated seats, do you recall taking any notes or pictures of the part number for the harness only?

I already have the part number for the retrofit kit. I want the harness part number only!

If you are looking for a thread on whether you can retrofit heated seats to your mini please go to the discussion here.

Cheers!

Hello joylove ,

Do you have the full kit already? Do you need just the harness because you have the center controls? The kit includes the harness , control for mirror control (non power fold mirror ) / heated seats . There is also a fuse and a ground cap wire.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/61110145996/ES159515/

Most people check under there seat to see if they have the plugs like article in the link states and our website states. Early MINIs did not come with heated seats pre wired and dependent on the seat type MINI phased in and out heated seats prewired . Best way is to check.

I can search and see if the part is available independently.

Thanks

I have the switches already yes, and I'm just after the harness. I've scoured the parts diagrams that are available online to no avail. Thanks for checking!

The same connector is also used for the E46 pre facelift front seats (individual switches in center console), the E83/E53 rear seats and the Rover 75 front seats; but alas no hint of a part number for either that I can find.

Here is the part number just for the harness.

It looks like it does not include the fuse.

Heated seats harness cable only:

The empty plug in this image is the heater. It's a D system with round pins.

So I managed to score some heated seat mats from an e90. All I need now are two tyco 2.5mm D system 4 pol connectors. Can you find that part number? It looks like the one on the E36 and E36/7 and Rover 75!

You found you don't have the pre wired seats ? Thanks for the pics , that helps.

I found the coonect 4 pol male size. It looks like the one you need. For your BMW seat heating mat to MINI conversion.

These are hard to track down.

The plug housing in a 3 pol I could not find at this point. Its used for the gong connection on the BMW side which is a full unit.

You could possible use the 4 post above and snap off the one hold tab, still should work. Putting the round to the round side.

Thanks

Found a three pol ( white ) but its on E90 BMW cigar socket: It used on some BMW / MINI cig sockets.

Socket MINI 61346977682 ~15.00

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61346977682/

Hope that helps.

For this plug on your wiring harness ?:

**Edit , I was able to finally find a valid part number off of one of the other sockets not from the E39 but E90 above.

Looks like I was able to find it. It comes in white in a pack of 10. I am glad I found it , but it took me some serious digging on the BMW side of thing I know. You have to know the common parts are they are not all on the ETK shared on BMW and MINI.

Socket Housing part # 61131378113 pack of 10

Thanks

Hmm, that's $60 for two seat connectors. Can you pull a part number from the connector?

A quick question....
My MINI came with heated seats. Some time ago the driver seat heater stopped working. The passenger side works fine. Every once in a while I will try the driver side button and the lights blink but it does not stay on and the seat does not get hot.

The other day I was cleaning up inside the cabin and I was spraying electrical contact cleaner inside the AC switches behind the cup holder where someone spilled hot chocolate. I thought I would try it out on the seat heater button and what do you know the lights came on and the seat got hot.
Later on when I tried the switch/button again nothing happened. This leads me to believe that the one switch is bad. Can I replace just the one switch or do I have to replace the all three (Seat Heater and mirror)? And is it possible to replace just the one switch/button?

They come in a full pack, for the Heated Seats / mirror switch version. Then the set for heated seat / mirror switch / fold in mirror version ( which is a little more rare ).

Center Console Heated Seats / Power Mirror Switch ( non power fold in mirrors ) version
Part # 61316918217

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61316918217/

&

Center Console Heated Seats / Power Mirror Switch / Power Fold Part # 61316918216

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61316918216/

Looks like this: with the extra button for powerfold.

Just make sure you get the right one. Most lily the switch is stuck / broken , if you cleaned it and it still does not work.

Thanks
