Anyone know if the brackets on outmotoring will fit a CM?

I'd rather not spend all that cash on driving lights that can only come on when you turn on the brights. Also, I want to do four Hella Blackmagic 500's and put a switch inside for turning them on whenever I want. I just need to figure out a mounting solution. Outmotoring.com sells brackets, but I'm not sure they'll work on an R60.

Thanks, I sent them a note. I can't seem to find a picture, and I want to be able to see the spacing before I commit. I sent it late yesterday, so I'm hoping I'll hear from them Monday.

Not yet, but the strut bar is on its way. I am still waiting to do some kind of intake mod. I will do it, but I was thinking I would wait until someone comes up with an air intake other than the factory. ie. a scoop that intalls just below the windshield. I also want to change out the springs and bring it down about an inch. We'll see.

Okay, so I promised a write up....... The VIP Custom Parts Quad light bar is a very high quality product. Those guys have spent a tremendous amount of time and effort to make something that is very clean, very tight and very strong. I weigh 180 and I could stand on my light bar. It is about a 2.5-3hr. install. They give you VERY good instructions and the wiring harness is pre-built, all you have to do is clip everything in place. They have a good selection of light options, mine are Hella 500 Black Magics. The light that they throw is fantastic and if they are aimed well they are not ridiculous. I have mine wired to the fogs with an override switch to the left of the steering column(provided with the kit). VIP recommends and some states require that they be triggered only with the brights.

On a scale of 1-10, this product is definitely a 10. Even if you are only going to do the dual kit, the bracket that VIP produces is so far superior to the OEM product it's not even a contest.

I hope you find this review helpful and, as always, I am happy to assist and or answer any question you might have here or via PM.

Mod like you mean it!

I would love to see some pictures of how the wiring harness is run and a picture of the interior switch and its mounting location. Did you consider using the MINI oem driving light switch?

I promise to get a picture of the interior soon.

As for pictures of the wiring.......really wouldn't show up. Everything is tucked and tied such that you'd be hard pressed to see anything other than the relay. Suffice it to say it is very neat and tidy.

OEM switch.....I did consider it......and that was it. I didn't look into buying one or the process. Here's why.......I don't want to take my eyes off the road at a point in time that I have decided that I need to light up the road with more lights to see it. So......I need the switch to be easy to find, quickly, by touch. Since there are no toggles available, that leaves the push style buttons like the fogs. That means I would have to look down, eyes off the road to be able to see the road better, counter productive IMO. That's it.

is there any reason why i could not just wire/splice them into the high beam...would that work with this kit?
The only time i need mine is when i have my high beam on...

Yes it will work and that is actually what they recommend. I just didn't want it that way.

I was hoping to see a picture. Any chance this might happen?

I wonder how the black magic lights would look with just 2?

They look great - I think I'm the only one here to have 2 Black Magics:

And an image taken from an earlier HID post of mine:

Glad to hear it - I couldn't be more pleased with Van's products, and these light brackets are insanely well made. As Geoffrey put it: You could stand on them and not worry about having them fail. He's right, too.

The choice of lights are up to you - I just loved the look of the Black Magics. I almost went with the larger Black Magic 1000s, but those are older and use the H2 bulb. I wanted the H3 bulb so I could easily get the 85w or 100w yellow Hella bulbs. They really make a big difference for night-time deer spotlighting.

Yeah. I am debating on the PIAA 510 as well. Smaller 4", not sure if they will look too small?

I ordered the whole VIP package, exhaust, intake, strut bar, heat shield, and light brackets......I guess thats my birthday presents....lol

I was wondering if there are any hints for where to splice into the fog lights? I've got basically everything wired up, but I'm not sure where to look to splice things in.

I'm also trying to figure out how to get through the firewall (I've got the cover off, but that rubber gasket seems to be in the way).

I ran the line down behind the headlight and t tapped into the fog down below. The rubber gasket can be either punctured and then poke the wire through or you can stretch a current hole in the gasket and push it through.
