ALTA access port r53 petition

Ok, so the access port for the r56 looks freakin awesome to me. Only problem, i have an r53. So I emailed up alta/perrin and they said that they may make an r53 model at some point. So, i decided that we should start a petition on here to try and convince them to make it.

who else would like an access port for their r53/50/52?

It's about the same as a remote tune... so to be able to do that on my R53 ... Yes Where else do I sign up?

Good question. I did send them an email, as i said earlier, and i jokingly added that id like to add my name to the petition. However, if we get enough people to chirp in here, then i will undoubtedly email this thread to them as well, in hopes to get them to make it. It would only make sense, as it seems that a lot of people who are doing much modding are doing it to the r53.

I suggest going to the ALTA poll and indicating that you want it for R53 (last item in poll).

The poll is kind of biased against R53 owners, only because it's posted in the R56 forums, a place where R53 owners like me never go. I know it's reposted in THIS thread, but still. Let's compare apples to apples here.

I'd be very interested in an R50 friendly version.

you know a rmw flash tool+tune+dyno time comes out to probably less than the cost of a accessport...custom dyno tune i would take over an canned tune...plus consider this...the R50/53 engines werent built to the same tight build standards that the R56's...so in this case whats good for the goose isnt necessarily good for the gander...plus after my foray into the honda world...tuning based on mods will never yield the same results...the only way to get the proper tune is to put it on a dyno...which is going to be another 100+ so just to tune your R53 with a accessport your looking at about 900-1000...plus i think its always better to do all the mods you want to do up to a certain point then tune it to bring it all together...

just my .02

You make some good points. I would probably go with a WMW remote tune if I was going to do it that way, and I think there actually IS a dyno in town now. However, from what I've read here I have to question your statement about the R56 engine being a "tighter" build quality. Anecdotal evidence suggests the 1st gen engines are more robust.

here is where im coming from on this....
the R5x engines are chrysler engines that were built in brazil...mini had main control of it all...the problem is the engines werent built to the same insane litmus test that the bmw engines are in good ol bavaria...this was seen mainly in the older engines(01-04) and you could have 2 cars that came off the production line at the same time but one is stronger than the other...and this was because the engines were sourced from brazil...in 05-06 bmw started to take more control of the process as the minis were gaining in popularity and were no longer in the catagory of niche/cult car

now fast forward to the R56/x motors...the prince engine has some fundamental differences....alum block instead of iron...turbo instead of supercharger...direct injection so on so on...but the key here is bmw brought the engine process to england and has a partnership with peugeot in france....so they now have direct and total control of the motor building...so the engines are so close to each other in terms of power and torque because these suckers are being pumped out of the same factory...checked by bmw then sent down the street to the main factory

that is why i say in the case of our R50/52/53 motors the goose isnt necessarily good for the gander...you could load a canned tune based on mods in two separate R53's and get vastly different results...mine was tuned to 215.7whp...if you loaded my tune in another mini with the same level of mods there is no guarantee youll get the same result...that is why i always take dyno custom tunes over canned any day

We have two versions for R50/R52/R53 owners to choose from: FA53 (for the self-tuners who want to tweak their own maps) or the FA-Lite (for the non-tuners).
