Interior electrical completely OUT?!?!?

Help anyone?!?!

I have a 2004 MCS with 65,000 miles.

Last Friday upon leaving work, got in my car, started up just fine, but absolutely no interior lights/accessories/hvac/stereo power. Nav screen comes on, but is stuck with the MINI logo. Seat heaters still work and map lights still work.

All exterior lighting works, turn signals and all.

This is the strangest thing and really sucks because it's now cold out!

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

(Trying to avoid the dealer because I have a feeling this will be expensive even if it's a small fix)

THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Kevin

Try resetting the electrical and computer by disconnecting/reconnecting the battery.

Buzzsaw, yup, check them myself, and then had a shop check them yesterday, none are blown.

Always a hard call.
Check the easier ones first.
In the fusebox under the hood,
>check FL-8, 50 amp
>check FL-12, 50 amp
>Then check the 50amp FL1 and FL2 fuses. Unfortunatly you need to remove that whole box as that fuse is on the underside.

This is my first guess. I'll check out my notes.

Have you added any lights to your interior? I did that and half-assed it and I ended with with a - and + wire touching and none of the lights worked. The stereo and stuff did but no lights. Fixed the wires and car went back to normal.

Thanks everyone for the input:

RKW - reset the battery connection, no change

Have not added any lighting at all, the only interior mod is Ian Cull's "auto up window/auto fog circuit" and a dension Ice Link...have had no problems with this set up for approximately 3 years now...

The radio head unit powers on, but no sound comes out at all.

I did notice a blank fuse space in the fusebox under the hood between the top 2 50amp fuses, is this normal? Unless someone is messing with me, I don't think it was ever there?

A member of SOMC had a similar incident. She was actually locked inside her car... NOTHING worked.

she had to climb into the back, and pull the emercency hatch release to get out.

I could imagine how that could be a panicky situation for some people. but it sure was funny after the ordeal, that's the sort of thing you'd see on madTV or something... I just imagined here clawing at the windows, and pounding to passer by's... lol

anywhoooo, lilcoopr is her name, I forget what issue they found. and hers was a total failure.

Sheesh...

Just a quick update to let you all know what the problem was.

It had NOTHING to do with the car itself.

Apparently, the Dension IceLink iPod connector I installed over 3 years ago decided to start interfering with the entire car interior network.

Once the mechanic removed it from the car, everything worked fine.

So for anyone out there with Ice Links, you might want to keep this in mind in case this happens to you!

Wow this is crazy. Mine did the exact same thing today. I went thru the carwash so I thought for a minute that it was that but after finding this post and removing the dension it is now working perfect. WTF. Do I try to put it back in? any other IPOD interface that people trust?
