Tire Pressure Sensor issue

My tire pressure warning light likes to come on all of the time, even if I just put air in my tires. It really has become quite annoying lately. So my question is, is there a way that I can have this turned off, or turn it off myself? I would love to have one less light on in my car. Thanks in advance for any help.

Kyle

You need to reset the system after changing air pressure in the tires. To do this:
Initialization is completed while you
are driving, but you can stop the car
at any time. Initialization is automatically
continued when you continue driving. Do
not initialize the system if you are driving
with snow chains or a space-saver spare
tire.
1. Before a journey, start the engine, but do
not start driving.
2. Press the button until the indicator lamp
in the display elements lights up in yellow
for several seconds.
3. Drive off.
Initialization is completed during the
drive, without any feedback issued.

All of the above is conveniently described in your owners' manual. If one didn't come with your car, go to http://www.motoringfile.com/ and download one for your reading pleasure.

I just put new wheels and tires on my car and my S-lites didnt even have sensors on them. I have the window sticker that shows it has them. After driving down the road light came on and reset as described above and now they work. Don't understand. My TPMS comes on intermintently from time to time and the other day when it did my climate control wouldnt come on. Turned ignition off and back on and it came back on. The TPMS came on intermintently before with the S-lites. Confusing problems. Freaking me out.

you may have another problem, but our cars do not have tpms sensors. it senses a difference of rotational speed in one wheel and determines that one is low on air pressure. that is why you have to recalibrate it when you change tires so it can learn what the normal rotational speed is.

you don't on an '03. i do on my '08. not sure what the op has. there is a fix to block out the tpms light if one decides to run without them...i'll see if i can find it.

Tire Pressure warning Light

I have a tire pressure light that stays on. It does not blink nore does it go out out when I try to reset it. I can not get it to blink when I reset it because it is on steady all the time. The DSC light is NOT on with it. I ran the test for code faults and no codes came up. Is there any way to get this light to turn off. Again, I have done all the reset attempts per the book.

same problem

I have the same problem, recently last two weeks it has been coming on after driving for 20-30 min.

I find if I stop the car turn it off turn it on right away the light won't go away and I can't reset it.

If I wait 10-15 min, then the light goes away and if I reset the switch it then works until it comes on again.

It is consistently coming on after 20-30 min of driving. The tire air pressue is always consistent 33 psi.

Dont' want to waste money at a dealer since I'm out of warranty, the reset switch is about 50 bucks and can easily be replaced without going to the dealer. I'm thinking of trying this first before spending 200 bucks just to diagnoze a problem wthat won't throw a code.

tire pressure light on again

This Jan 30th 2010, my light came on again and it won't turn off, seems to be affected by very cold weather. I checked the tire pressure and they were off by 5 psi between the lowest and highest tire. I equalized the pressure and tried again, but light keeps coming back on.

It is on only by itself, would this be a fault in the transmission? speed sensors not able to determine the rotational speed of each wheel? Could it be a bad drive shaft? This worries me because it happened once before and then it never came back for nearly 7 months since my last post here.

tire pressure warning light

I discovered a problem with the pressure warning light, it was the switch which was loose, everytime I pull the hand brake and release it, it would cause it to malfunction, so I squeezed the switched between the hand brake and figured the contacts were shorting out below the switch.

It's working now and when I test it it switches off. never had a problem since.

So those of you with a glitchy warning light, chances are the switch may be shorting out or contacts are touching the frame of the car.
