Nope. Just plugs into the OBDC socket, which is under the dash.

nuts. There goes my excuse not to get one. The nice thing is that even though I'll keep this mounted in my Mini cooper, I can pull it out and use the code reader to check the status of codes in my other cars.....

Careful...The velcro can get a little tricky.

After the second day with the same dimness, I'm going to go with it being the nature of LCD displays. It comes back as the cabin cools down from the A/C.
I have speed showing as one of my gauge preferences and it seems to match the OEM speedo in the 50-60 MPH range, but gets way lower than OEM above that. Like oem will show ~75 and the gauge will show 70. Seems to be more difference as the speed climbs. Is the OEM that far off?

I thought i read that it needs to be programmed for the total gallons. and every one seems to be able to get a different amount in.

So now that all you guys and gals have ScanGauges, you have no excuse for not posting your approaches (difference between IAT and ambient temperatures.) We should start a logging thread. Particularly interested in the following data:
1. Car and mods
2. Altitude
3. Driving conditions (highway, traffic, rain, etc)
4. Gear and rpm
5. Any two of the following: IAT, ambient, approach

thanks!

Yeah, after a fill-up, you enter the actual gallons put in for the gauge to calculate fuel useages properly. First fill-up, you just enter "done." Next fill-up, you enter the gallons actually put in and then enter "done." A correction percentage is calculated, which reflects the difference between what the OBDC says and what the fill-up actually showed. If you want, you can do this for several fill-ups and then enter the average adjustment factor.

I just did a fuel calculation set-up on my Scangauge this morning. Gauge before adjustment indicated fule consumption of 12.5 gallons. Pump (using same pump at same fill rate as last fill-up) showed 12.3 gallons. I'd say that's a pretty accurate measurement.

I'd be more interested in what people's fuel and speed correction factors are. My fuel is at 14.1%, speed -2%, though my tires are almost done so it is more extreme than usual.

Okay, so does the connector for your SGII not get in the way, at least somewhat, of your left foot?

I found long ago that even if the OBDII connector cover is just off and hanging down, my left foot will tap it almost every time I move my foot. I just got an Auterra "Dyno-Scan for Palm OS" (plugs into the OBDII connector just as the ScanGauge II does) and I can't see how I can drive around comfortably with it plugged in to monitor live data unless I rearrange the OBDII connector so that the connector/cable does not extend so low under the dash. I have decided that with a Euro/parcel shelf installed, I might be able to move the connector so that it points to the right instead of down. Anyone else had similar problem or concern? What are things to watch out for in moving the OEM connector?

Are my feet just too big?

Thanks.

Yes your feet are too big
I find if anything I hit the door that hangs down just slightly, about once a day. Not a big deal, and I could just remove that ODB door if I wanted.

When the panel is open, it appears that about the only thing inside is the OBDII connector plug. Seems that it should come apart some way and move without cutting and such, unless it is glued in place at the plant. I'm afraid to pry at it or anything for fear of breaking the stupid thing.

You should put up a post in the Vendor Group Buy section so you get some more visibility.

Great price btw!
