Before anyone says it, yes I've searched the boards for this info . I only found one "concrete" size number - 7507. Is that correct? I'm going to do the angel eye conversion on the "indicator" lights and want to put the silver/amber bulbs in for the turn signals, so I need to confirm the size. For some reason, the owner's manual doesn't mention the size. Thanks!

7507 is a europeon bulb size which is why it says that, but i guess you didnt do too much searching cause the american standard size for the front and rear turn signal is 1156. And its all over the board.

 

I used 7507s when I replaced the stock amber bulbs with silvered one. This is on an 05 MCS. Got my bulbs from StealthAuto.

 

MINI uses 7507 in the front and 1156 in the rear. 1156 and 7507 are equivalent except for the nubs in the bayonet base. The bulbs will not fit in each other's sockets, but you can interchange 1156 and 7507 bulbs if you file off one of the nubs.

1156 has nubs directly opposite from each other:


7507 has nubs offset at an angle:

 

I tried the Sylvania Silvers (7507's), didn't like the hint of color that remained. So I went for the DIY method... silver paint over the OEM bulbs, and I couldn't be happier.

You can still see some amber, behind the silver. It looks like they (Sylvania Silver Star I think) just coat the front of the bulb w/silver, but there is still some amber in there. The other more expensive brand may be better, but the $2 can (cheapest can at Auto Zone) of silver paint made more since, especially after spending $10 on the silver stars and still seeing the amber in there.

P.S.
If you go this route, be very carefull and only apply lightly. If it runs, it will take the OEM amber coating with it.

 

I went with an all silver from autolumination.com - only $3.49 apiece! Here's the link: http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm Scroll down almost all the way to the bottom - they're the Silver Chrome European Bulbs, not the Chrome Domes. The Chrome Domes will give you the same problem that chuckt mentioned (visible orange).

 

oo that's very cheap. how long will it last tho? oh well..can't expect HIGH quality with 3.49 a piece. im gonna order myself some. thanks turcicus
