2nd EIM "Mini-MINI Meet" at Mini Meet East Meet West, 3-5 July

Our EIM "Mini-MINI Meet" at Mini Meet East Meets West will involve us primarily as spectators for a subset of the larger group of events at Mini Meet East Meets West (MMEMW). As of now, we are not expecting to register and pay for the larger, organized events as a group.

(That fact should not discourage you from registering on your own in the Funkana, entering the Car Show, attend a banquet, etc. if you would like to do so. The full details may be found at http://minimeet2014.com/. Some EIMers may like to submit an A La Carte registration to pick up a commemorative t-shirt or polo -- the website will allow you to do this.)

You may recall that the first EIM "Mini-MINI Meet" up in Winona, MN was where we met our dear friends and MINI enthusiasts extraordinaire densan57 and smieska for the very first time. For the second go, we're looking forward to meeting up again with former EIMer and MINI mate deanman who plans to make the trip over from the Gopher State.

***The transit to Milwaukee on July 3rd is optional and designed for those who'd like to see the Lakefront Fireworks Show that evening and join us for our Kettle Moraine Drive on Friday morning. Others coming over on Friday may meet up with our group at Mt Mary University at noon.

============

The "Mini-MINI Meet" Itinerary:

Thursday, 3 July
As desired - Travel to Milwaukee during the afternoon; check into hotel
7:00 pm - Depart hotel for vicinity of Veterans Park
9:00 pm - Fireworks Show

Friday, 4 July
9:00 am - Depart hotel for EIM drive into Kettle Moraine country; lunch on the return trip
12:00 pm - Rendezvous with Friday morning transit folks at Mt Mary University
Attend MMEMW Car Show ($5 spectator fee)
Visit Vendor Area and Swap Meet
4:00 pm - Participate in Panoramic Group Photo; return to hotel; make plans for dinner in the local area

Saturday, 5 July
9:00 am - Depart hotel for Mt Mary University
Watch the Funkana
Visit Vendor Area and Swap Meet
12:00 pm - Lunch and begin return transits home as desired

============

The EIM designated hotel is the Holiday Inn Express - Germantown located at the following address:

W. 177 N. 9675 Riversbend Lane
Germantown, WI 53022
262-255-1100

Of course, you may choose to stay anywhere you like but it's always fun and convenient to be co-located. If you decide to stay closer to downtown Milwaukee keep in mind that their Summerfest will be in progress and rooms may be at a premium.

============

The main MMEMW venue is Mt Mary University, located at 2900 North Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee, WI 53222.

The route for the Kettle Moraine Drive will be provided separately.

============

Here is the MMEMW Website again for reference: http://minimeet2014.com/

============

***We have yet to determine exactly who is interested in coming along with us for this event. You can help by clicking on the "I plan to attend" link in the associated Event Calendar Entry (<--link). Thanks much!***

I was really looking forward to seeing my MINI friends at this event. Now it turns out that it will not work out for me. I'm bummed about that, for sure! I'm going to keep my eye out for an EIM event I can attend.

We are bummed, too. We were anxious to see our dear motoring friend again.

We are looking forward to this trip.

Bill is chomping at the bit to get out and motor. We are staying about 2 minutes from the Holiday Inn. I am hoping to leave work early so that we will be there around dinner time. Can't wait for good roads and good friends.

Anyone have thoughts about the best strategy for motoring downtown to see the fireworks Thursday evening? They're shooting them off adjacent to Veterans Park along the waterfront. Summerfest will be going on just south of there next to Lakeshore State Park so it will probably be a zoo down there. I suspect parking will be at a premium in the immediate vicinity, but it looks like there may be good places just north of the area along Lincoln Memorial Drive (e.g., McKinley Park, or at North Point Custard) to park and watch. We could approach the area from the north along N. Lake Dr.

Okay Daryl, here you go...

EIM Mini-MINI Meet at Mini Meet East Meets West '14

Sure wish you could have joined us. The weather could not have been better for the first week of July. Cool, dry, and sunny. Enjoyed meeting and motoring with everyone. Lots of new roads and new adventures. Glad we were able to connect with DDayKid and miniturns at the event. Watching Jeff and Sue in the Funkana was a blast.

Of course, I think my highlight was the Friday morning car wash.

Excellent pictures, as always, Gary. The one of your MINI by the artsy barn/building is suitable for framing, but they are all great! I know your heart beats a little faster when you see a car wash.

Found this proof photo from another source. I even found myself -- back row, directly in line with the trunk of the tallest tree.

We just got back. Came back the way of Chicago. Ran down Sheridan RD from Glenco to Lake Shore DR. Then Lake Shore DR to down town. A really nice drive. Spent the day down town Chicago. Found a great pizza place. And of coarse Sue went shopping. This was our funnest day of the weekend. The Funkana was a lot of fun too. I ran over one of their blow up pretzels. My bad, I think it was Sue fault. But we did win our class, Great job on the pics Gary.

Thanks for the free $50 picture. Or, has the price gone up?

You can tell this one's not the "official" photo since not everyone is at their car, and lots of folks aren't even looking at the camera.

The going rate for the panoramic print was still $50. No inflation.
