Holy Cross Parade and Festival -- August 11th
Holy Cross Parade and Festival -- August 11th
It's great to see that folks are already "clicking the link" in our EIM Event Calendar (<-link) to attend this year's HC festival.
If you haven't joined us for this outing in the past, the Holy Cross Parade and Festival is a delightful small-town event held in conjunction with Holy Cross Days. The festivities include the parade, a charity auction, a street dance with a live band, bouncy houses for the kids, a barbecue, and more. The heart of the festival is right across the street from the home of our own 05MINI (a.k.a., Linda and Tom R.).
The parade will stage on Saturday, August 11th at ~10:00 am for an approximate 11:00 am start. Prior to that time, there will be a car wash spot set up in the driveway (956 Main Street) and/or the neighbor's driveway. If the street in front of the house as you come into town from the south is closed, just drive around the block and you'll get there. After wash-up we'll spiffy up our MINIs with some decorations prior to the parade.
As in past years, L & T have graciously invited us all into their home after the parade for a great feast, beverages, and fellowship. They supply virtually endless drinks and the most delectable and now famous broasted chicken from the local bar & grill. If you would like to bring along a side dish or snack to share with the group it would be appreciated but it's by no means required nor expected.
Parade preregistration is not necessary -- but I'm sure our generous hosts would appreciate a head-count so please hit the calendar link or post a reply here so we know you're coming.
Things you may want to bring along with you:
-- Candy to toss to the kids during the parade
-- A side dish or snack to share (totally optional)
-- GMRS/FRS radios (for friendly banter during the parade)
-- Personal car wash supplies
-- Any leftover parade decorations you stashed from last year
========================================
(Oh, I almost forgot -- no matter which point of the compass you choose to approach Holy Cross, there are roads enroute that are among the most scenic and twisty in the state. Consider getting creative and have a blast just getting there!
)
Okay Linda, what did I forget?

I think most of the "bling" we've had in the past is of the red, white, and blue variety, if that constitutes a theme. Though, we never quite know what deanman is going to show up with in the bag of goodies he often brings.
Got a busy day going on that day, but we plan on making it. May have to leave early after the parade though for a family event (our son's girl friend's daughter is dancing... you know how that goes...).

Thanks Tom and Linda, the weather and food were excellent! All the pictures are great. Catherine, you have some artist in you. I personally thought the sea of red was fantastic; several years ago I thought we were losing out.
We made it to our other commitment is time; sorry we had to leave early...

And they are very enjoyable, indeed! I like how you can put an artsy twist to an already marvelous work of art! And, I like that expression on Nora's face. We need to think of a clever caption for that one!
Added a few pictures we took... Couple "famous" ones.
