Roof Stripes Or Not?
Roof Stripes Or Not?
All,
I'm toying with the idea of adding red roof sport stripes to my MINI. I saw a picture online of a GP model that has it. I did a little PhotoShop magic to see what it might look like. Here is a link to the photo.

If I do this, I'm going to have to do something custom. I could buy the factory red stripes from MINI but I would need to piece them over the sun roof. Ideally, I would like the sections over the sun room to be semi-transparent but I don't know where to begin looking for that material and then I would need to find the right color.
Anyway, let me know what you think.

I always think the contrasting roof stripes are a GREAT idea!! I would however say not to go thru MINI and get the OEM stripes. Not because they're inferior. I have no experience with OEM stripes. Instead, I would say take your MINI to a local Vinyl shop, and see how much it would be to get what you want, and have them installed! Also they are able to punch them, so that you still have your sun roof, but from the outside, they look solid. Just a thought....
I think it'll look great once you have it all done!!

I think it would look great. I also think that you could save some $$ and hassle by going through a local provider, assuming that they could come up with a good color match.
Stripes aren't too difficult of a DIY install but with a professional vinyl installer you'd have the peace of mind that if it got screwed up, the offending piece would be replaced on their dime and not yours.
