Place- Front Street Brewery Davenport, Iowa

There is parking behind the restaurant and across the street there is a large parking lot.

Not sure if I can attend. My daughter has a basketball game @ 11:50 am that day. How long will this meeting go on?

 

David, if we start when the place opens at 11:00 I imagine that the majority will loiter around at least until 12:30...maybe longer. As for me, since I'll want to sample a local ale I'll plan on strolling around the waterfront and doing some local exploring for a bit longer before getting back behind the wheel.

Sure hope you can stop by for a bit...particularly since you set it up for us!

 

As of now, Tom & I are planning on attending.

 

Here's a shout out to getting grey -- at Wig and Pen yesterday you mentioned a possible way to choreograph our parking at the Davenport meet next month to maximize our visibility to the passers by.

Can you share the details with us? We'd like to get the word out and make it happen.

Winter weather might have us all parking as close as possible. The brewery is close enough to the sky-bridge that we might find a spot to stage a couple of good photos from above.

 

I am going to try and make it. I will find out on Monday for sure as to what i work for weekends. I was also wondering if all the Iowa City arear people would want to meet up some where here and head over as a group?

 

I think that is a great idea! Just pick the time and place and pending any weird happenings I should be there

 

I think what I am reporting here is good news...

As many of you know, we had several EIM Meet-n-Eat venues there for a while last year that were experiencing some singularly strange and unfortunate issues after we had given them our business:
1. Sonic in Iowa City -- flooded out last June
2. Brietbachs in Balltown -- burned to the ground (twice) since our visit
3. Peking Buffet in IC -- flooded and destroyed last June
4. Wig and Pen -- flooded last June (but thankfully reopened just in time for our meet last weekend )

So, when I started searching for pics of the Front Street Brewery in Davenport to post an announcement for this upcoming Meet-n-Eat on our website, this is the very first one I ran across in my search --



(This was taken this past June -- pretty scary!)

I figured I'd look for a different picture of the place--something not quite as visually intimidating. Anyway, here's the second picture of the FSB that popped up in my search --



(Also taken during the flooding; evidently the warehouse next door caught on fire but they were able to control it before it spread to the restaurant)

I said this was good news? Well, as you can see the FSB has already experienced and successfully weathered their calamities in advance of our meet. Let's thank them for getting these out of the way before our arrival!

Actually, truth be told we've subsequently been to a lot of other places since a year ago that have not befallen any hard times so don't worry, we can confidently dispell any notion an EIM jinx.

Hope to see you there on Feb 21 so we can share FSB's good fortune with them!

as far as now sign me up. all the iowa city area peoples that want to get together and drive on over together let me know where to meet up and i'll be there.

 

Well, we had all intentions of making the Quad-cities Meet & Eat on Feb 21st, that is until I found out I have to have surgery... I've had trouble with my neck since 2000, and now found out that I am starting to have spinal core damage. So, I will have surgery on the 16th of this month to remove a disc in my neck, open up the spinal cord channel, put in a plate and fuse C3 & C4 together. Don't suppose I should be driving that soon after.

Okay, I plan on making the March meet barring anything else that may crop up.
