Has anyone heard anything about plans for the May HPMS gathering? I had thought Jonathan had said shortly after Thanksgiving more info would be out

Nope...but he never seems to be in a big hurry so I imagine things are percolating behind the scenes.

BTW, we should trade emails sometime soon on the idea you and the bsteigs had for next fall. Probably should start nailing down dates and expectations for when folks should commit in order to lock in the lodging arrangements.

No rush, just want to make sure we don't get behind the .

Any last minute instructions for a first-time MINI snow driver? Moved here last fall, but the winter was really kind to me and I haven't had to drive Mho through any significant snow yet. Tomorrow commute will be my first real snow challenge and I would appreciate any MINI-specific advice.

Your results will depend greatly on your tires. If you plan to run those Yokohama Advans over the winter months I think you're going to be disappointed in how your MINI handles the roads. On the other hand, with a good set of winter tires you'll be amazed at how sure-footed the front-wheel drive MINI can be.

I drove home to Decorah from Iowa City one evening a couple of years ago in icy conditions. Along I-380 there were dozens of cars that had slid off into the median or over the side. With my trusty Blizzaks and keeping a moderate speed, I never once felt like I was coming un-stuck from the road. I'd be just as confident in it as I am in our AWD Subaru.

Hey Larry, I see that MINI of Chicago is running a year-end special and you can now pick up their limited edition MINI Goodwood for less than $40K.

Still time to pick up a stocking stuffer!

I'm not running the Yokohama Advans. They are sitting in the garage and I am running the stock all-season tires that came with Mho. The storm was less than expected here in the Iowa City area and so far I haven't had any trouble with the snow.

Planning for MINI Fun!

We’re exciting about starting up the 2013 Motoring Season with some planning at our MINI event on January 26th in Iowa City. One thing we’d like to do is get some idea about joining our High Plains Motoring friends for the event in Branson, May 9-11, or we could design our own EIM event.

We will discuss some options at the Wig and Pen on the 26th, but we would like your vote ahead of time, especially from those who are unable to join us for lunch.

Hope to see you on the 26th!

Just saw the post... Nah, I'm going to have to wait on the Goodwood, VW diesel took priority. Nice to get 46 mpg and pass the gas stations.

Most of the nice ones I've seen that are MINI-worthy start in the $180 range.

Maybe some used racks will come up for sale this Spring when the snow is melting.

Almost made it through our 7th winter, but changed out the battery last week when it was still above freezing. Perfect fit.

7+ years on the factory battery...that's a pretty good run.

Didn't like the slow crank when I started my car yesterday. Granted it was mighty cold and I hadn't taken her out for a whole week but I decided it was time for a new battery Still had the original in there! Today she got a nice new AC Delco. Fit like a glove

Probably a good plan. I'll bet she cranks like a champ now.
