Opinions on 15% Pulley Installation Wanted

I am finalizing my plans for a pulley upgrade and would appreciate your opinions.

First off, it will be a 15%. My MCS is my daily driver and I don’t want to sacrifice any drivability or reliability. Just a little more fun on the ride to work.

So here are my choices:

15% or 15% plus GIAC installed by a highly-regarded east coast tuner.

-Or-

15%, JCW injectors, JCW plugs and a JCW ECU flash installed by a mod-friendly MINI dealer in the NY metro area.

So, tell me what you think.

With the HP you're making with a 15% pulley the injectors are a waste of money, as is any flash IMO. JCW will do nothing for the car, and GIAC/MTH, etc really only remove the speed limiter and raise the rev limiter. I lost HP with the MTH tune on my car. Not to mention I was running filthy rich with a 9.2 AF (Normal is about 11.8 ).

I ran 220+ HP on the stock injectors without going lean, you're not going to have issues with 185-190. The jump to 380's (If you're going to do it order the bosch ones from Helix13.com at half the price, JCW is a waste of money) is really only necessary once you put a head on your car IMO.

If you want the JCW 380's, keep an eye on OutMotoring.com. They are $340 right now, but I recently got them for $250.

Helix sells 380 CC Injectors for 260 + shipping. They're identical to the stock injectors, not redrilled POS injectors. JCW Injectors are basically the same thing.

Thanks. I will keep an eye out for another Outmotoring deal. I see that Helix has the JCWs for $295. I agree that the JCWs at dealer list are not worth it.

My goal is to get into the 190+ HP range, and I was hoping the 15%/GIAC plus my JCW CAI and catback would get me there.

For a some additional $, I thought the addition of the 15% and JCW injectors/plugs/flash would also do the trick as I would only be missing the JCW head at that point. Since the full JCW package is 207 HP, and the opinions on the benefits of the JCW head are mixed at best, I thought high 190s would be a safe bet with that combination.

That 207 hp number is at the crank. The JCW cars that I have seen on a Mustang dyno pulled between 165 & 170 whp.... '05 & '06 models. If you get on the right dyno, you'll see 190+.

My car pulled 192 to the wheels (192/.88=218 BHP) with a 15% pulley, obx header, invidia exhaust, ddm cai, and a crappy mth tune.

With a pulley, intake, exhaust most people are pulling the low 170's to the wheels. If your goal is 190 bhp, a pulley alone should put you fairly close.

Software flash tunes do close to nothing, especially for such a lightly modded car. You'll notice the higher rev limiter more than anything.
