Got my Thumper head on.

Holy Cow, this thing breathes! I had an aftermarket pulley spin on my supercharger shaft, so I had to replace the supercharger.

Got a new supercharger with the new and nifty lobe coating and, suffering from a terrible case of WhileI'mInThere figured it was a perfect time to get some head work done. Got Mike to do me up a Thumper head to go along with the new blower.

Wow. I'm not easily impressed. I'm a long time bike guy and I've had motorcycle heads done by everybody from drunken chimps to serious big time professionals and I've never had a more impressive change from head work than this Thumper head. Big time torque! My butt dyno notices no loss at real low rpms and from about 3K up my car just tucks it ears back and hauls. Big, big improvement.

Numbers? I don't have any and won't have any. I'm not interested in dynos and not particularly impressed with top end hp figures. I don't drive around at 6000 rpms, so what I need is a nice fat torque band. You can use that on the street, which is where I live.

I love my Thumper head.

Congradulations! But why did you have to change your supercharger as well?

He typed that he had a pulley spin on the input shaft of the SC, therefore it messed it up. Damn those pulleys that don't seat well.

Nonetheless, i'm glad to hear that it is performing well on the street. That's important for us non track junkies. all in fun....

Indeed. There are many. It makes it interesting to have more than you can keep track of.

Here's a small list.

Thumper
M7.Cosworth
Webb
Endyn
Clearwater on E-Bay
Mini-Madness
Seven Enterprises
DMH

That's all my non-caffinated brain is giving me this morning.

Feel free to add to the list.

Edit: added others

Pilo
RMW
Fireballed!

See, quite a few. Options, options. What's a MINI gearhead to do?

Anyone think of anymore?

I have to agree with that. Track or no. Top end or no. Big $$ or no. Titanium, So. filled, etc., etc., etc.

MC2 mag is tossing a "Head" article around for the future.. or so they hint at. Even with those kind of tests.. it is hard to find the application you want.. I think Street Performance vs Race Performance.. yes?? all I have to say is anything over 220 WHP makes these cars a total new driving experiance... no matter which head you use.. yes??

Just me......................................

I agree there are some serious head choices available today. I think a technical articule about heads will educate us without vendors having to give secrets about head development.

At the end of the day its about the happy butt dyno experience. Congrats sounds like your baby is pulling really strong.

Yes it was a flash and tuned on a dyno. I started at 201whp with a generic flash and after the custom flash I was at 234whp. The car runs very strong and feels like its 500lb lighter and most importantly it is running safe.

Ive been looking into getting a Thumper head... I need to rob a bank, anyone in?

Mario, who did your tune, and how much was it? Did it take many dyno runs to get?

I believe we did 4 pulls on the dyno?

Jan from RMW will have an emulation dyno tune available in the next 2-3 months (Possibly sooner). One of the advantages of emulation tuning is that you can modify values in real time and see what the changes did. With a flash it's pretty much trial and error. You modify the software, reflash, dyno, modify, reflash, dyno, it depends a lot on the car. The first car there was on the dyno almost 3 hours. Mario's was fairly easy to tune.

Emil did it in Burbank, it took about 4 pulls to get it dead on. The price is around $800. Best money I have spent. The head/cam and genertic flash gave me 41whp for $3000 but Emil's DimSport gave me 33whp for $800. A good tune is must in these cars.
