Yes, the FBT Head/Cam and FBT Flash brought my car from the 160whp to the 200whp mark but the car ran a bit lean. Now with my latest custom dyno flash I was able to get 33hp more, totaling 234whp.

So you've gained 74 WHP just from a head/cam and tune Wow that's pretty impressive, I would say that's more than any other head/cam and tune combo I have ever heard of.

I agree but 40% of it came from a custom tune, plus my car was a bit on the weak side to start with. Some people are starting at 180whp with just an intake and pulley

A comparison of heads by M2 would be most impressive.

Those are some whopping big numbers. Whats the valving on this head? intake +MM? exhaust +MM?

Which cam?

I think it is one mm over on both sides and double spring valves. The cam is a Shrick stanard. When I got my car back from FBT it was 200whp but Emil's tunning really pulled the whole car together.
I was more surpised than anyone with my ending numbers, I just wanted the tune to make my car run safe I was excepting more hp and Tq. Now all I need is 30 more hp and 30 more Tq.

Most head/cam combinations with an agressive tune should yield between 220 and 230 HP.

Jan expects 245-255 HP from an emulation tune on the RMW El D head .

Webb motorsport references a 20 hp gain w/ head and cam work. It will be interesting as more and more heads get installed and dyno'ed so we get a real feel for this. I love hearing these number thou.

I was thinking the same thing, I remember when the Webb head was the best one out there. Then how Helix would say it's almost impossible to break the 200 WHP mark on a super charged mini. How the times are changing

or just a lot of wishful thinking. As more of these heads get out there - real AVERAGES on performance gains will appear. Some of the numbers being tossed around in various head threads are whoppingly large.

The Dragon may shed more insight since some of these heads wll be there as well as a dyno. It will be interesting to see who bucks it up and who becomes dyno shy.

there is that dyno thingy again... it will only compare apples to apples... so when those numbers appear, no matter what the number is.. we will have to take in to account all the mods.. the tune ( if any) and compare the numbers to ONLY those of that day on THAT Dyno. it will be good to see...

high number gets to buy US a beer... yes?? LOL

if you look at the LDG head at the red line (stock) it is at 213 with tune..... so much of this new power is at very high (street unusable IMO) revs.....

TQ is the key and that is one reason why the 56 is getting such high marks from Randy W and Peter and Ryan etc....... driveable power again MO

Actually the data shows significant torque gains and this is what you feel as an increase in usable power. The laws of physics apply to everyone equally. I have several different heads from M2. Some use stock valve size and others use larger valves. It all depends on what the end user wants. I don't know what to think about the M62 yet. My initial thoughts are that it should be good for close to 300whp and lots more torque. I hope to get the chance to experiment with one of these just to see what the possibilities are. For my money, the limiting factor is the underlying limits of the stock ecu. If the tables go to 9 and you need an 11.5, you've got a problem.
My M2 head dynos at around 209-212 before tuning. After tuning it's closer to 230 depending on the other parts used. The wegner headed DMH car also has my intercooler and fuel sytem, CmdV's car has stock valve size, stock exhaust and is close to 230 and 180lbft. If you think about what the car had when you bought it then any result over 200 is nothing to sneeze at.

I have joined the dark side!!!

Its GO time, Boogity Boogity Boogity!!

I installed the Thumper head on my MINI last weekend, its been a little rainy here to really get out there and run it but on the dry surface I can find, I let it rip and boy does it go!! Doesn't really feel as though I have lost anything in the bottom (still a nice daily driver) but Middle to top end is awesome. I can't wait for the next Dyno day and maybe a tuning party down here.

Mike thanks again and great guy to work with. I agree with the rest of the bunch, great bolt on power. Definitely worth it!

As for mods, I currently have Borla exh with MINI Mania intake and 15%pulley, JCW injectors, and JCW software and NOW a Thumper Head!!

Pete whens the Dyno day?!?!

He has my PORTED Head with the stock valve size, coupled with serious bowl and a Performance Valve job. In town driving, and the stop and go OFF Boost , the velocity is kept up with the stock size!! Yes?? However when the boost is applied.. the increased runner and throat size, allows killer power!! Have fun... and keep us posted!!

PS.. what is your friend thinking of his mods.. Pulley AND Head at the same time!!
