I need dyno tune ASAP in Sol Cal

I finally broke my motor in by putting 1000 easy miles. I want Fireballed software but the guy is in Tempe AZ which is a 1100 mile round trip. Does anyone know of a company in So Cal that can tune my car with a flash on a dyno?
Thank you
Mario

Do you mean that the Fireballed boys who are usually in Torrance are on a road trip and so, not available?

Or do you mean that AZ is where one now travels for a Fireballed tune?

It appears you know this already, but if you want a Fireballed flash, you can't go just anywhere. And Mynes are the folks that FTR works with.

Since the Mynes individual could not make it to the FTR SeminarBBQ where they were gonna do flashes ( I was gonna get my car done), there is a really good probability that FTR will have a flash session sometime in the near future.

thank you guys, I already have the FBT flash but my car is running to rich at idle and too lean under load. Will this guy in Burbank be able to do a custom tune on the dyno?

Mario, have you talked to Brian or Hubie or Tuls about the idle and load issues you mentioned? I suspect that they have a vested interest in happy customers.

Did you do mods after the FTR flash?

After the flash FBT added there big valve head, cam, injectors, plugs and dyno. I also added new exhaust, header, high flow cat. The orignal flash was for intake and 17% pulley. The guy in AZ is Jason who writes all the code for the FBT.

If you're running lean at higher RPM's take it easy. Much past 14 and you're in motor blowing territory.

The stock software probably has the most room in it, it usually adapts to keep things in safe limits. You may want to get a temporary reflash of the JCW or stock software until you get your issues worked out. You may lose a few ponies, but you'll have a piece of mind. Steve has a contact at Universal City Mini that can get it done for you. I just tipped him 20 bucks.

Ah, Jason, I coudn't think of his name..

Anyway, I think that you should give the FTR/MYNES guys the opportunity to tune your car again. If you liked their first tune, why not stick with them for the duration? It seems like throwing money away on the first one to go with another tune. And maybe they can cut you a deal or not charge you at all (I have no idea about this, I'm just speculating).

rustyboy has some solid advice too.

I agree but I know that Mariokart has tried to set up several appointments with them and they flake on him. It's not like he is driving to the next town. He has to make arrangements.

Very true, it would be over 1,100 miles and I would miss a full day of work and about $200 bucks in gas alone. But Scottsdale and Tempe have great places to party and way too many hot girls

I find it weird that I live in Southern California, were there is more cars and more tuners per mile than anywhere, but only one place can tune a Mini on a dyno in real time and he is based in Arizona. I find that strange. I know some people have similar mods as mine and have a generic flash, and their cars drive perfect, but I think that is just plain luck. I need my car to make as much power as possible, while still being safe so I don't blow another motor.

Custom tune

Hey Mariokart, I just posted a reply regarding the tuner (Vitessepro) that I'm working with. He said he can custom tune your car. He'll be at the dyno day in Burbank on Sat (4/21) from 930am-130pm. You can contact him at: info@vitessepro.com

Thank you for the info, I just sent him and email. Do you know how many people will be going to the dyno? Is this only for Mini's?

Best investment you could make is a wideband o2 so you can keep an eye on things . I'll be getting one here in the next few days. Also got some 380's on the way .

Danny at Mini Corsa knows the guy I think. you may wanna contact him. www.minicorsa.com. I'll try to come up there. Burbank is only 20-30 min from me. I know I won't be able to stay long though, maybe an hour and a half or two. Are you going to get there right at 9:30?

The dyno day is strictly for MINIs. Not sure how many will be attending, but this was posted here in NAM and on the SCMM.org board.

Congrats on getting your car going again! Kudo's to you for continuing to push your car too!

Just curious, how did you go about deciding on changing your exhaust set up to the OBX and Alta 3"? I thought at one time you were considering going full Larini if you did it again?

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a full exhaust and keep waffling...

Cheers!

My Larini header melted in half and even though they have a life time warranty they wouldn't warranty mine. I bought the OBX because it was $200 and I didn't want to spend another $900 at Mini Works. I ditched the Magnaflow and went with the Alta 3" because I'm saving my penny's for a turbo kit with a 3" down pipe

Holy crap! That's good to know! Yeah I don't blame ya on spending anymore there, it's not like it's cheap.

Thanks for the feedback, good luck with the dyno tune!

Turbo kit?! Keep us posted!

How's the noise on that Alta 3" compared to the Magnaflow? Did you bolt your stock cat to the OBX or are you running a highflow?

I'm running one OEM cat that was stretched out a bit. The Alta is a very nice looking system but is Hella loud with my head/cam and header.
