>>Does the ECU remap get changed when the dealership does software upgrades?

The answer is yes, but you get to enjoy the ECU remap which is phenominal while MINI figures out the stumble which could take ages! :smile:

Yeah, I'd hate to take it in for an oil change and have 800.00 smakers worth of programming overwritten! That would suck bigtime!

The updates - if any new software becomes available - is free (other than the shipping). The rewrites are free as well.

Normally, the dealer won't "upgrade" you unless you request it. You can also request not to be upgraded - and quote the stumble/yo-yo as a reason.

Once 3.4 is released, the ECU programming will be remapped with the changes taken into account, and that upgrade will be retrofitted to all the curent ECU folks who want to get it, as well as any future cars that have 3.4.

Scorpions - what a nice memory. I spent the longest part of my childhood in one place in Arizona - back when Scottsdale was still in the desert! I remember the Horny Toad in Carefree and the ribs and shortcake they served. That place still around?

As for pre-payment, so far it hasn't been necessary. I'll have the units drop-shipped to the location we come up with and then you can just pay at the install. I will need a list of what is to be sent, ie Madness and Alta intakes and how many.

So far, I have dominicminicoopers. That's one - any others?

If you're still planning to change your month you wanna come down, it might be better to start a new thread instead of continuing on in this one that is mis-nomered. Wow I could have said a thread with a misleading subject. I think it's way past my bedtime...

Yep, the Hory Toad is pretty much the same as ever.
Sign me up for the pulley, undecided on the ECU (though I NEED it!).

I'm in Tucson, but I am at a loss as to what kind of improvement this would give me. Power? What I really want is a colder AC. Can someone point me to some more details on what this entails. Does it void the warranty? I have been itching to have something done to the car, but haven't decided what yet.

Randy, I am open for either weekend, July or the original Oct/Nov
.
Man, I would love to get that pully by August.
Count me in for the Pully!
I am still debating on the ECU Upgrade.
Not sure for July, but I would do it if it was October/November.
Give me some more time to sell my blood.
But I think I am going to want one of those Alta Intakes as well.
Torreto (Dominicoopers) and I are looking for intakes.

Who was it that mentioned that shop in Scottsdale?
Do you think they would be open to us using their shop?
Does anyone know them?

Mike, glad to see you gave into the peer pressure!

Randy, should we start a new post about a July install then?
It might drum up some people.
I will go over to MINI2 and see if any of them are intersted.

Thanks for the pictures Dominic. It took like 5 minutes to download them all!

I'm planning on running a fun run every other weekend or so. We went this last weekend, the one for July 12th is ready to go (posted on MCO, MINI2, and on the OL) . Check out the regional events section of the OL, and the regional sections of MINI2 and MCO. I know I have fun doing it! I know both Mikes had a blast. Hopefully this motoring spirit is contageous. Mike (binkydognose) brought his wife. Mike's girlfriend didn't want to come. My wife had to work. But the next fun run my wife is already asking for that Saturday off. Desitnations for future fun runs include:
* Tombstone
* BioDome 2
* missle silo tour (somewhere south of Tuscon)
* Grand Caynon
* another run thru Jerome and Oak Creek Canyon
* Prescott area and areas west
* Flagstaff
* Karchner (sp?) Caverns

I'm going regardless of wether or not people decide to come along. I love to MOTOR!

So...have we actually decided on a date yet?
I vote for the 22nd/23rd so as to avoid Thanksgiving. I assume Randy has SOME family he'd like to see once in a while?

Thoughts?

Currently any weekend is open for me. I'll just need to know about 2 weeks in advance. Other than that, I'm ready!

Welcome Leaplab. November is only a couple of months, and you can use the time to either save for other mods to do at the same time (intake, exhaust, ECU) or do some of the other mods between now and then. Maybe some cosmetic mods? Stripes, shocks, roof decals, tinting...

As for who do I recommend...where are you? not that it matters since I don't know anyone here in Vegas who works on MINIS except the dealership.

Im in the Phoenix area...Trying to determine what mods and parts to work with. Thinking about Alta Pulley and intake, H&R springs, rear sway bar, QS exhaust for starters... Just want somwthing that can handle the heat and be expanded on later.

Agro, I seconfd the date. November 23rd & 24th.
LeapLab, you should join us.
It doens't get any better, or cheaper than having the All Might GURU Randy do it.
He is using the Alta pully, and he is bringing the ALTA intakes for Dominic and I and anyone else who wants one.
In toewn (Phoenix) I have heard of a couple schops charging around $300 - $400 for the labor on installing the pully. Plus, you need to buy the pully.

So, all we need is a place to do it.
I was going to offer my garage, but I am not sure if my Chevelle will be finished by then. Also, my wife and I will have our brand new baby by then, possibly 2 or 3 weeks old at the time. I'm not sure my wife would like all of us over there.

If that other place doesn't work out, you all are more than welcome to do it in my garage.
