JCW gurus - need your advice ASAP!

I'm new here...

I brought my 2003 MCS in for service today and we got talking about Dinan & JCW products. The Service Manager recommended the following:

JCW CAI
JCW Injectors (380cc??)
ECU Flash

I realize this is the 10hp upgrade for the JCW fitted cars. The question i have is would the injectors be suitable for my standard S model? My plan is to eventually fit a JCW exhaust and 15% pulley so should i go ahead with this kit??

TIA

OK, I'm not a guru & don't play one on TV.

I have a 2006 MCS. I have a JCW intake, a JCW exhaust & a 15% Alta pulley. I don't have the JCW injectors & have not had any reflash done to my ECU. My car runs great!!!

I talked with Chad from Detroit Tuned about installing the larger injectors & he said that with the mods done to my car I didn't need them. That was good enough for me.

The JCW injectors are needed when upgrading the JCW 200 to JCW 210.
There's a separate kit for the JCW CAI as a standalone upgrade, which has it's own separate engine flash and is not the same kit as what the SM was talking about.

However, if you get the 15% pulley you really should get some sort of engine flash upgrade to match - without it you won't get the best out of the car.
If your dealer is prepared to flash your non-JCW car with 15% pulley to the JCW 210 software when they install the CAI, you'll have a winning combination (the only thing you're then missing is the JCW exhaust and the debatable benefits of the JCW head).

By the way, what's the dealer quoting you on the CAI.
I just found today that OutMotoring (in the SALE section of their site) is selling the JCW CAI new for $299 -- and the injectors for $249.

There is NO ECU flash required for just the JCW air box ... it has a control unit which is connected to the ECU and monitors engine RPMs, opening a "flap" to the cowl area at 4500 RPMs.

The ECU flash is only required for the JCW intake with injectors. Not for just the airbox. Also try Helix for a good price on a JCW intake. Although he's hit & miss on availability. Worth a try.

Thanks GBMINI!

In CDN Dollars - the dealer is quoting 650 for the intake/injectors/flash + 300 for labour all including tax. Pretty good deal considering in Canada we pay more for everything.

I was quite surprised they were willing to flash my S with the JCW map.

I just need to find a JCW exhaust for cheap!

THanks all, your help is much appreciated.

Morristown Mini is the good place to get the JCW exhaust and other goodies at a very good price.

Maxicooper - thanks for the heads up, they'll be on my short list when it comes to ordering time.

Keep in mind, bigger injectors won't do much until you get an ECU software to go along with these...

I wouls suggest that if you are getting a 15% pulley, don't bother with injectors yet. Get a good ECU remap (GIAC, MTH, JCW)...
