yeah thats what i was thinking. i read a thread yesterday talking about mods combined together being unnecesary and it got me thinking. Random cheap mods seem to talk a big talk, but probably don't do much. this does have numbers to back up claims however. i dont know.

I've run it...

and it does what it claims. If you live at red-line and want to drop a few degrees of average heat, it's a great addition. If you just daily drive, and live in a cold climate, you may pop a "engine not up to operating temp" codes every now and then. It clears on it's own, but it happenes every now and then. There is also the possibility that if you never really work the motor you won't get off the "warm start" map or it's equivalent into "normal operation" because of the engine temp, but that will depend on driving, and local weather more than anything else.
It's not a hard install. It looks tough because of where it is, but it's only and hour or two the first time, and much less time once you've done it once. So using it seasonally is a real possibility.

We're in the mid-atlantic and have had several customers remove and go back to stock because of the MIL issue. IMHO the system was designed to operate at a specific temp range. In the old days of efi, a popular mod was to alter the ecu's temp sensor reading to provide richer mixtures for more power. The Mini is not your father's Oldsmobile. Waaaaaaay to complex for that.

Yes that's what I figured. Proper coolant temperature ensures proper combustion(fuel economy and power for road cars).

While in general I agree...

I ran lower peak temps on the track with it than without. That said, it's use case and local weather dependant on the benifits it will bring to each customer.

And yet I've had it on my car in subzero Michigan winters and not thrown the code. All in all, it is well worth it for people who track their cars. And don;t judge a mod based on its price. Would you honestly pay more than $50 for a thermostat?

I run Water Water in every car I own...

it's just too good a product to pass up (and yes, there are other brands that do the same thing).
