what are these coils you speak of and what use are they?

Not "coils", the coil pack. It's what your spark plugs are plugged in to.

WOOHOO! I got that rattle taken care of and man oh man its nice. The bolts from the first clamp of the exhaust had been rattling up against a part of the undercarriage creating a nasty rattle.

Now that its gone the exhaust also seems to drone LESS at highway speeds. Maybe the rattle was causing stuff to resonate?

I don't know but I am super pleased right now.
