intake question

Im still pretty new to owning a mini... I have some extra money and im looking to buy an intake.(i know there are prob. a lot of post about this... sorry) but I was lookin at the Alta and i like it... I was just wondering if there are any other good CAI, that people prefer????? thanks

Check out the Dinan,

From the outside looks very much like stock, but inside you have a K&N style washable filter, also it picks up fresh air from the brake booster area,
at $199 its a really good value

If you want something a little different and probably one of the best CAIs around, look at the one from GT Tuning. http://www.gtt.uk.com/home.asp

Or if you are into tinkering and making things yourself, you can make your own CAI. See my gallery for pics of my stock modified CAI.

I'm of the opinion that pretty much any aftermarket CAI will net nearly the same amount of performance, as long as you're getting a much larger, freer-flowing filter, and getting rid of the plastic cowling behind the intake. With that in mind, there are plenty of good offerings at $199 - including the Alta. It's also supposedly the loudest, which can be good / bad depending on your POV. My helix CAI is also louder than a ****..
