NEW Milltek Turbo Exhaust (pics)...

Here is the new Milltek exhaust for the Mini Turbo. After installation of the turboback exhaust (downpipe/cat, catback) the car made it to 202bhp. Wow!

[EDIT, 2/6/07] Car was NOT baselined before the test. The dyno data is the AFTER measurement only.

The tip seen on the show car is in production for early Spring. First shipments will come with the dual ovals as shown in the system picture. Both are very nice. Pricing to be announced soon. -Pete, Stratmosphere. 1.866.533.1777

Very nice! So we will be getting ours soon for independent testing, right?

Are the tips interchangable?

What do you think of the large tip with the verticle slats in there? Milltek will be making a small shipment to us in Feb. -Pete

It's corrected crank numbers. I road in that car with the exhaust. Exhaust or no, these new cars are QUICK! -Pete

I don't know what the factor was. I think the big surprise is the delta. Gains over 10% without a software change are surprising. -Pete

Do you know the weight of your exhaust system? What are the weight savings compared to stock?

not for a factory turbo car. pretty typical in my experience. YMMV.

good to know there's some power to be made with the R56 however

I like the single tip with slats - I think we need to see both on the car to be sure.

Are the tips interchangable with the rest of the system - could one buy the system and have both sets of tips...

Randy

FWIW - in the UK, almost all "rolling roads" correct to crank, and you see insane numbers. I think what Pete is showing here is right on though - the change from stock to modified. The use a wind down to measure drivetrain loss, and the dyno software computes it right on the read out.

Never modded a car before but if this exhaust does what it claims, wow, sign me up! I'll be waiting on Randy's findings.

Does adding an aftermarket exhaust of this type affect warranty of the engine in any way?

I haven't heard of a dealer giving anyone flak for an exhaust. The issue with doing a full turbo-back would be the cat replacement, but just the cat-back wouldn't be a problem in my opinion.

I think the best thing to do is have a talk with your service advisor, and find a mod friendly dealer in your area - they are well documented by now through the R53.

As for the warranty on the exhaust itself, it is covered by Milltek for the lifetime of the unit, much better than the factory warranty. If purchased from WMS (my plug), we also carry an extensive 2 year/24,000 mile warranty - including track use.

Hope that helps!
Randy

Any guess on the power increase from the cat-back exhaust without the downpipe?

Was there a dyno run BEFORE the exhaust was put on or is the 175hp just quoted from MINI?

The way I read it that they dynoed the car prior to the exhaust.

sweet, Milltek is on top the game again, good head start. Generally, the increases with a tbe is larger than N/A applications. Questions: What is the diameter on this system? Does the tbe alter CEL? (probably not). Any testing on the exhaust temperatures compared to stock exhaust? I know it is a little early, there is no cars nor tbes available yet, but probably you can answer the questions with what you have from UK.

I would invest in the downpipe before dealing with the catback system as far as performance is concerned, so does it match the stock catback?

Me too.

Won't decide on whether to get a cat-back until I've had the car for a while, of course, but I prefer a modified-stock look, not a custom look.

Just some answers to the questions here. I have to check on weight of the system and diameter. I don't have catback-only dyno data.

[EDIT, 2/6/07] Car was NOT baseline dynoed before.

Tips will be interchangeable so that in theory you could buy more that one tip set for the car. -Pete

Will you be getting HP data for the cat-back system?

Can you post the dyno results/images? Dyno results are no where to be found on the internet.

Thanks!
