Are there any Lysholm SC kits for MINI?

I was just wondering if there were any Lysholm charge kits for the MINI. They do amazing things on VW's G60 motor and sound like a scortched cat! I would def. buy one if it was made....

www.rms-tuning.com

I started to read a thread on NAM a couple nights ago about Randy Webb possibly bringing this kit to the states. I didn't read enough of the thread to know why it wasn't brought over. RMS is very big in Europe.

The short version of the story is that the cost was far in excess of what anyone was willing to pay (exchange rates, etc.). If someone could come up with a way to fit a twin screw to our cars at a reasonable cost, they would have quite a market. In the meantime, there is the M62 development work, and the new Eaton model that I think DMH is investigating.

The W140AX looks to be of similar dimensions as the M45, and looks like it could be made to work.
Big bucks though.

I looked into it. It would cost > $10,000 . The TurboKompressor was less than 1/2 of that with nearly the same result in hp.

well if you have ever heard a lysholm Charger they are very very loud. But at the hp per dollar you can go turbo and get better results and spend less.

I heard the lysholm on a few VW G60's and it was amazing. I love the loud bat-out-of-hell schreek that it makes. I just want to find a way to convert a lysholm for the MINI. I don't need any twin-charge system, I just want one Lysholm!

BBM Motorsports makes a complete Lysholm kit for the VW and the price is $2500. Not to bad. They should make a kit for MINI.

A downside not mentioned with this SC is that it makes heat at all times, granted it is efficient and makes less heat at high rpm than a Roots, but at low rpm it’s making a fair amount. If you think M45 equipped MINIs with TMICs suffer from engine heat soak, at least it’s not compounded by a Lysholm’s baking at idle and low speeds.

I was under the impression that Roots type blowers made heat at all RPM's as well, due to the fact that unlike the Lysholm style, they exhibit no internal compression; the output air is very turbulent.

i have put some thought into this, out of all the options i think that the eaton tvs is the best balance. (price, efficiency, capacity) in an ideal world i could just take an old m45 and swap in the rotors from a tvs giving high efficiency, higher flow, and flat torque curve all in the same oem package.

it would be perfect if only i could conjure the magic to make it happen!

thats just my $.02

Would the TVS rotors fit in the M45 shell and support the water pump? If not, would they fit at all? Can always go elec. WP....

I sent an email to Eaton about this very same thing, the simple answer...no.

Partsman is absolutely right the tvs is just a different blower. The water pump issue doesnt really present a problem as there are many electric pumps available, some of which can be controlled via a external computer.

At this point Eaton has only produced two large displacement blowers using the TVS technology. Harrop Engineering in Australia has begun making its own castings (two weeks ago) and plans to make blowers also using TVS four lobe technology in smaller displacements, but a marketable product is still a ways off.

Well seems to me... We're just looking for a new way to add PSI to the motor... we already have at least 3 supercharger options working or in the worx... and any turbo the displacement can handle to either accomidate or replace all together the SC... Can't we be happy with that??? My problem is picking one option.... There's more than enough options out there!
