Should I trade my MINI

I'm new here and thought I would seek the advice of some other mini ppl out there.I have a 03 MCS Pure Silver, blue leather, HK sound, Premium pack, Cold weather 26k miles. I dont use the car as a daily driver its just a toy. I want to start tracking and modding my car. I would hate to put 10k or so in a car I wont want to track. I have the option of trading my car for a Dark Blue(sorry I dont know the real color name) 03 MCS with just the sport pkg (NO SUNROOF)!! The car has 43k on it though. It would be a even trade. Is getting rid of the roof worth the hit on miles?????? I also like blue better then silver.
Thanks for the help!!!

I don't think the sunroof is worth the addition of 20k miles and the mechanical uncertanty of the other car. Yes, if I had it to do over again, I would prefer to do without the sunroof...but...just not worth it in my eyes...check out these two threads for some MINI dieting programs:

Yeah, that does not look like the good side of the deal for you at all - ending up with a car with less options, many more miles and unknown history with no profit = poop end of the stick IMHO. The only way it would make any sense to me is if you ended up with a really nice chunk of change on top of the car swap..

If the sunroof weight is such a concern to you then perhaps look into a carbon fiber replacement for the glass perhaps, or drop weight on the car in other ways. In the end it is really all about your skill I think, the weight of the sunroof won't come into play all that much as I understand it. (And, in the end, the difference between the steel roof and the sunroof is not really known; can't be all that huge considering that the weight of the sunroof alone is not that vast as I recall.)

Finally found my answer on the sunroof weight.
http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...-revealed.html

"
The sunroof adds 61 lbs.
Its weight is distributed w/ 22lbs on the front axle, and 39lbs on the rear axle."

I didn't read through it, but does it answer what the weight of the roof is that it replaces? It is relevant since it is not just additive, it replaces the roof, liner and structure that is otherwise there.

Interesting about the axles though, the Mini feels like it does well with a touch of rearward weight.

That would be Indy Blue..... I have 1 & I think I like pure silver better ( It grows on you, me anyway )
The simple answer is NO. Your car is worth more.
You could sell your car & buy something to your liking & have some cash, get some change, rebate...kinda thing.
Hey Welcome to NAM

No deal.
Leather + HK + Premium -17K miles <> Sunroof weight savings

Then again, depends what you're looking for, and how much you're willing to spend for it. This one doesn't sound right though.

(and the color is Indi Blue, no 'y')

The "Y" was a senior moment.

don't do it! its not worth it financially... however if money isn't a problem... do what ever makes YOU happy. Logically this doesn't make sense at least to me... but we are talking about you and your happiness

I like five dollar bills. I found a guy who has one, and he asked me to trade him a ten dollar bill for it. Should I do the trade?

Thanks for all the response. I think I will keep it then. It looks like I can get a CF cover for the sun roof if I want to go that route. My guess is if I get real serios about racing I will just have 2 minis. One for fun and one to track. I always plan on going all out but even with all the M3's and Porsches I've owned Ive only been a weakend warrior at the autocrosses. I'm Hoping to take the next steps with MINI but only time will tell. I look forward to future chats with everybody here at NAM!!
